  1. Hello. No I havent and was hoping to find a person interested in it to pass it on. It just seems wasted where it is. Its a beaut and I fell in love with its character and I thought other people would be attracted to it too and that someone would want to restore it. I just want to put what I find or have access to out there for people who wont see what I see and potentially loose out on something they passionate about.
  2. Wow, Thanks for the effort in writing that for me. I am still learning an getting used to the terminology and jargon. I see what you saying about the potential buying groups. You see im not here to rip people off and just think its cool to make something off a bike that someone will love to have. I think its a sin for some of these bikes not to find homes. I know that sounds lame but Im sure you know what i mean. So when im hunting old stuff Im willing to post it for a lover of the item to want to deal with me. I would be a fool to admit that I know what Im doing but I need to get these bikes out there to people who want them. Otherwise they get lost into obscurity forever. So I like to just show people whats out there and whats available for them to decide if they want it or not. YES, Im wishing on that GEM or GEMS. But I would say its more a hobby and thats why I dont mind showing my naivety. I am trying to learn but how do I get all that knowledge quickly. You dont so I trust other people to help and they do. But like I say I just want some one to buy who likes what they see. Yes, I am learning potential values and marques to look out for. I must admit on the vintage bmxs I score. But I do not want to embaress myself here and just want people to get cool things I see along the way AND FOR THEM TO BASICALLY MAKE A OFFER. Yes I apply logical filters to the potential price. I do believe in my heart though from dealing in props and old things that I do see potential value but get embaressed to just put it out there. But one person on this forum made me comfortable with my pricing when he said the bike is worth what a person is willing to pay for it and that to me is truth. Yet I will not try rip some one and that is why I come here. My self respect does not want people to think im out there for that. I would rather look like a sucker than a rip off artist. To tell the truth I personally felt that that bike was worth R3500 because of its look and character, I put it at R4000 so I could negotiate... eina???
  3. Just got ripped apart for advertising this for sale at a price i thought was fair with margin to negotiate. I applied my filters and logic and really honestly gav e the bike a price. But maybe I was a bit over eager BUT to find complete old bikes in this condition is getting harder and harder. Only to be told its a piece of indian junk. Been on the road I did not have time to research and felt it was a good price to pay for it as a resale. Im too embaressed now to mention the price I had it up for.
  4. Eddy hello, Look it was on sale for a price I believed was fair given the age and what I thought. would be heritage and legacy. ITS A GORGEOUS BIKE. I would love to have it on my wall or as a Sunday runner. But been on the road looking for bikes and other collectables does not allow me time to research everything. that is why I appreciate the opinions I get here on this forum. But sometimes I do impulse buyimng because I might loose the bike or not be in that part of the woods agin for a while. So I apply filters like what I personally feel its worth based on how hard to find old bikes, then some history and heritage, if I get it in time and then my purchase price. But I loose at times... big time... BUT SINCE FOUND OUT THE BIKE MIKE BE A INDIAN PIECE OF JUNK. Yet that does not detract from the age and beauty. And as some guys on this forum said to me a bike is worth what a person is willing to pay for it. I brought htis issue up as to keep my name clean. BUT HELL... I JUST GOT LAMBASTED BY SOME DUDE SAYING IM RIPPING PEOPLE OFF WITH THIS INDIAN JUNK. So later im going to have to stop the hunt and get on line. But tell me what you think, please. Thank You Brad.
  5. ROMA 19voetsak... My passion now turned addiction of hunting old bicycles has lead me to this beauty. I hope its alright to post a vintage here. It is going to go on the classifieds but I was wondering if this would generate any interest here. Thanks.
  6. JAVADUDE JUST KILLED ME... Thanks for your help and brutal honesty... I still think the Trek is good looking..lol. Okay, so now do I try sell them to get my money back. Is it rude to sell them now for more money than you say they worth. I would hate to sell to someone just for them to feel later they were exploited, I'm not here for that. Yet I do have to try regain some capital. I tried to base my sales price on not only what I paid for the bike but for the time it took travelling, hunting, cleaning etc etc. No magic formula but a hypothetical based on expenses and what I would think as logic. Obviously the bikes were expensive, in a sense. My first attempt at the road bike thingy... old school bmx I score on big time. basically I thought of this as a logical extension of sourcing old school bmxs. It can be, I just need to communicate with you guys before I buy. So?, how do I approach this? is it rude and out of line to try get 2 grand for each bike. Considering what you said and applying some level of respect to that and then apllying some level of trying to regain expenses on the whole operation. I have had interest from other channels at this kind of price but I would hate for that person to read your thread and feel embarressed or conned. My heart says I wont be conning any one if I ask for 2 grand each as i think its fair all things considered. Yet if you say the dude will be chased out of town then I will have to respect that and see what i can do to change the price. But I would appreciate your opinion on this. Thanks, Brad

  8. Last one for now. Any info would help. I thought it was Spanish from comments then from images I saw on the internet, then someone thought South African but then I see handle bars got made in Italy pressed into them... NOW.. is that only the handle bars are made in Italy, which I doubt. Are they genuine handle bars that come with the bike; thus the bike is Italian. And is there any pedigree or potential value to this bike, am I in lala land with these bikes im posting. A person on another channel who very interested but has not seen images wanted to know if there are sti gears on the bike? Ive got lots to learn but whats sti gears and is it easy to explain and are they on this bike. Thank You
  9. Here is the Torelli I mentioned earlier, very scuffed. Dodgy colours and ugly decals. Was this a respray do you think. Is there any idea on age here and potential value. I have offered it to one of the guys on the forum and will respect his offer but just out of interest sake. Lots of people wanted the rims but I'm not into stripping for parts yet... workshop has limited space. But is parting out worth it and does this bike have any wanted parts...
  10. Hello. I did get a few comments about this Trek from the other guys on the forum but some recommended I post here. What is the opinion about this bike from you guys. Ive just started buy to sell because while looking for old school bmxs I bumped into some road bikes. They looked to nice to be stuck in a old shop or in a guys garage... BUT they are not always worth the price paid. SO I'M LEARNING. Please give your opinions and any info you have. I will post a few here, from the quality and name brand I see on this thread these bikes might be out there depth here... I realise there is more quality and collector value out there but I have not found it yet. Looking at this thread I can see theres some really classy stuff and real hard work put into these fine machines. So please be patient whilst I learn the game and dont be insulted by the bikes I put on, obviously I will use my intelligence. But it would be great to know if the few bikes I bought get me into the game even on micro junior entry level... BUT I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO FIND THE BOMB .... I would like to show the Trek 470 Fast Track, Torelli and Cosmos and get info on those and any 'collectability' status... if any. There is a second hand carbon fiber Schwinn frame to and is that worth getting involved in. I have a seventies Wstern Flyer I would to show just for info or comments, an American forum reckons its seventies but there has been a contradiction to that that we might clarify here. this bike is tarnished but is fully there and is gorgeous. Then there is the frame and forks of a 1956 Rudge and some eastern european ladies bike fram and parts called a Kopra. If any interested in looking at those let me Know. THEY NEED PLENTY WORK, but they safe for now. Thanks Brad.[
  11. Okay, now I understand the logic of a thread. When I asked the other day is when trouble started. You see I was given the thread link but when I went to the forum titles I could not find it. So i was thinking how does this exsist, is it a page somewhere else that is just linked then i thought how do you create a thing called a thread. Cool, I know now. i might of seen one born right before my eyes... right here... COOL HEY!!
  12. Damn man, this place will make me a literary master with all the requests for grammar and the likes... WOW, you must see my personal mails even... paragraphs, capitals etc. COOL, thanks for the advice. But to tell the truth some of it is the computers fault for not capitalising the first letter of a new sentence after a full stop.
  13. Yes thank You. I tested it all out on some standard fodder we sell at boot markets and on line, the other bikes are locked in my workshop which i do not get to everyday. I can not believe what i saw... I cant wait to get my hands on those bikes. Even if I have to part them out. Its incredible, the change was magic. basically I got my worker to wash and do general clean then i showed what to use and where. I went out and on my return I immediatley was not happy, i scolded him for not polishing correctly BECAUSE I EXPECTED THAT STUFF TO TRANSFORM THE BIKE. He gave me the he did his best story.... UNTIL I got started on the polishing, dude, the scratches and marks we disappearing in front of our eyes. Menzi could not believe it. With out sounding ridiculous I actually got excited at the results and the potential it could offer so i took the bike in the house and while my girlfriend and i were watching our favourite series on dvd I spent polishing things. now just to get those other bikes here. Problem is theft, we got alarms and dogs, security gates and burglar bars but theres a few addicts running around our neighbourhood, our immediate neighbours son is a hectic addict and i think he stole a cheapie I left in the garden once. Now we trying to get a little place closer to home but its really thief proof. Thanks, as soon as im polished and clean I WILL BE BACK. Ive alredy had interest in the Cosmos but I no show until clean. Just now to find some real gems. Also going to have to start stripping. now thats Something im scared of, must i use velvet cased tools... lol. But when i want to buy something from someone it is usually not clean BUT I need to send it out there to see if its worth buying to resell. So I think before I put it for the world to see I will, If you dont mind, send to you and a few other generous guys who are willing to help. Because the original image of the dirty bike might just corrupt the next approach. Speculating on these things is tricky, especially when you end up with these relative cheapies. Regards my first pirchases the saving grace might be parting out. Thanks, Brad...
  14. Sorry didnt mean to start something but the response kind of made me feel humiliated and that im out of my league. I got lost between forums and i asked what a thread is, i also posted a comment on the wrong page/fourm. But the response from him, like im a idiot, cool i dont mind been an idiot in a place of learning amongst those willing to pass knowledge on but to be nailed for that lack of experience was a problem. Ive never felt embaressed in front of a computer screen before actually I havent felt embaressed for years until today. But anyway... There people on this forum who have taught me so much in the last 5 days its ridiculous and one of them recommended a page or a THREAD...TERMINOLGY... and i wanted to ask questions there, so i was getting my courage together, wondering is the right place etc etc getting a bit lost then bang SHOT ME DOWN. You can say im emotional, thats cool, you could read the situation now and think this dudes over reacting, thats cool to. But at that moment it felt like i was been judged by a dude who has no clue to who I am..and thats what i didnt like. Okay, its over. Thanks for encouragement to carry on.
  15. Thanks guys but i realise from MORPHS comments im NOT IN HIS LEAGUE. SORRY TO HAVE WASTED YOUR TIME ... It seems new guys and new questions are a bug bare to him so maybe i should not embaress myself and just keep been stupid and learn slowly by reading books or catalogues when they fall from heaven. Thanks Bye.
