  1. Evening all :-) I wonder if anyone knows where I might get an adapter to convert a 15mm thru bolt to a 9mm Quick Release? Just got a 2nd hand wheel with at Specialized hub (not DT Swiss) which has a15mm thru adapter in it. I actually think the native size of the hub is 20mm see images. I have a Giant STP with Fox F80 shocks and have to use a 9mm Quick release which leaves me in a pickle :-P I'd really rather not replace the hub if I can help it. Thank you. Greg.
  2. I'm pretty sure it's not air, the brakes don't feel spongy at all. A bleed done on worn breaks would pretty much mean the reservoir being over filled and I'm quite convinced that's the cause. G
  3. I'm pretty sure you must be joking here? Pistons lube themselves with the brakefluid that powers them. Putting any lube anywhere near a piston would be a very bad idea as it would contaminate the brake pad rendering it useless. G
  4. Whatsup thank you this makes the most sense. For now I've mixed and matched one of the better old ones (not too worn at all but enough to fit) with the a new one - The reason for this instead of releasing bleed fluid... because I don't have a bleed kit. This means that if I cock it up I'm going to be stuck One Tokay ride to level 5 yesterday and all felt dandy. I'm sure it is too much fluid because the pistons won't go flush even when hitting them with hammer (just kidding) I used a vice... still kidding... I have a bleed kit on order :-) Then I'll do it properly. Replaced back pads without any problem. Thanks for all the input! Your help much appreciated! G
  5. Hey guys, wow thank you! I've been on forums for years and this is like it used to be, people helping without crap! Have a great evening. PS: anyone know where I can get a bleed kit for formula brakes offhand? Of course I'll refer to Google in the meantime :-) G
  6. Hi! My wheel has no "freewheel" after replacing my my formula break pads in fact it feels like I'm dragging the brakes. It seems like they are too "thick" as in not to spec, the rotor gets between but in with a rather too tight for comfort fit. My rotors aren't warped and I pushed the pistons back carefully during installation (I've done this on various cars many times over the years, yeah I know they bike would be far more delicate ;-) ) The pads I've replaced them with are a pair bought from Olympic Cycles here in Cape Town by www.definitivebikes.com I'm not quite sure what to do apart from putting the old pads in for now, they have about 1mm on them. Comparing the old pads vs the new ones: Base thickness 2.1 mm for both Base shape, identical Overall thickness New 4mm, Old 3mm (of course this is wear) Any advice / help would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg
