  1. 102km Race 15 minutes delayed. Entrants stucked in traffic.
  2. Thank you for the guidance!!!
  3. Does anyone know what the substitution procedure is? Was initially not going to ride. Then regret. Then I got an entry
  4. Now that was a tough race owing to the weather conditions. Truly a memorable first Apple Blossom. I have to admit rocking up at the venue this morning...seeing the strength of the wind and knowing that it was going to rain...I wanted to get back in the car and head home. My daughter didn't make it easy also. She told me it is to terrible to ride and we should go back. At one point out of sheer misery I tucked my head down and missed a turn off. Thank you to my fellow participants that shouted me back. Despite the weather conditions I enjoyed the route. Well done to the organisers. I had a blast and at the end the weather made the race more interesting. Also well done to my fellow riders who persevered to the end.
  5. Not. I see on the website the only registration they have is the morning before at 06:30.
  6. Hahahahahaha...I wish I was a racing snake. Truth be told, everyone pass me on the uphill. See you on the route.
  7. I have entered the 60 km.
  8. Ok. Got entry sorted out.
  9. Thanks Sparki. It is sorted.
  10. Very scenic...beautiful...part of the world. Truly an adventure trail. Well done to the organisers. It was an event marked with excellence. Well at least to me. It was one tough 63 km race! Tough on the mind...tough on the body and tough on the bike. It was my first time and although I was told that it is technical and mostly single track, I didn't expect what I experienced. Still I live to tell the tale. Saw many falls, near falls as handle bars clip rocks and boulders. Fortunately no injuries to the unlucky once I witnessed going down. Admittedly, battling up the last climb I started to wonder "if mountain biking is really for me or not...it is too expensive...my body wont take this abuse much longer...I am spending too much time away from the important stuff in life...perhaps I should stick to road biking and running...maybe I such take up dancing" Now being out of that furnace of suffering, I am silently chuckling "that was such a hilariously ridiculous thought." I could not enjoy the last descent as fatigue claimed all my focus, enthusiasm and fun. Now that the memory of the pain, torment and suffering is slowly loosening its grip, I am hoping that come next year I would be able to line up at that start again.
  11. What a test of endurance! It was tough.
  12. Oh $#!t???? I entered the 60k.
  13. That was an epic 70km! Had a tumble. I can't remember it.As I was cycling I wondered why my face and jaw was hurting,my knee's skin scraped off...and...why is my right forearm hurting intolerably with every small bump? That was weird? I went out there with one goal, given my fitness level...and that was to finish it. Finish it I did. To the organisers, marshals, volunteers and fellow riders...thank you for this adventure.
  14. I am entered...as race highly recommended by sparki1.See you all Saturday.Looking so forward to it.
  15. I did the marathon. My revenge ride. Last year I could not finish it.It was still a very tough race. My wife did the half marathon. She was complaining at the persistence of the bees. She is convinced that a cyclist or two, who heeded nature's call, p!$$£d of the bees. ????They were on a war path. They stung her through her arm warmers, crawling on her gloves & buff, and, invaded her helmet. Apparently two cyclist were allergic to bee stings, had to end their ride and be treated by the paramedics.
  16. I had a wonderful time. The route was ell marked and clear. The Marshalls were awesome with their directions. There was no confusion insofar as direction is concerned. Wonderful race village...Awesome entertainment after the race. Thumbs-up to the organisers. I did the 68km. I thought my race was over 24km in when my chain broke on the single track. (The day I decided to leave my chain breaker and link at home. After all, I have a new chain on). Then a good Samaritan came along. If you are on the hub...Thank you Mark. You are a star. I was hoping to buy you a beer or two after the race but did not see you again. Great day out nevertheless. Will be back next year.
  17. Wow...Caleb...you go boy! Have a fantastic race.
  18. I was there yesterday. Saw it. Was to exhausted to even try lifting it. Could just about lift my bike over.
