  1. Sweet okay now i have direction New frame step one (Right Head angle 66 or less) then move parts then a new fork, thanks guys im no longer wondering in the the dark
  2. Wow thanks guys, so i take it the head angle affects the angle of the fork from the frame, so do you want the wheel further from the frame, sorry a bit of a noob on this one a frame i have also looked at is the Morewood Zula 650B if i was to move away from the hardtail. whats your views on that, i was trying to get away with the same frame but if im gonna need new frame due tot eh head angle I was thinking of the Morewood.
  3. Hi Guys, so I,m looking to get into some freeriding but would like to test the waters first with out having to poor my wedding fund into it, the Fiancee will not be impressed, then again i could marry my bike it wont argue and when i want to ride its always ready ha ha. anyways here is the current spec of my Merida FRAME: Big 7 TFSSIZE: MediumFORK: Rock Shox XC30TK27 100BRAKES F/R: Shimano M445CHAIN: KMC X10 10sCHAINWHEEL: Shimano M522 octa 42-32-24DERAILLEUR F: Shimano DeoreDERAILLEUR R: Shimano XT ShadowHANDLEBAR: MERIDA comp OS 660 R25STEM: MERIDA NC OS 7GRIP: Spank SubrosaHUB F: Shimano XT 785HUB R: Shimano XT 785RIM: Spank Spike Race 28 Evo 27.5SADDLE: MERIDA Pro SISEAT POST: MERIDA comp SB12 31.6SHIFTERS F: Shimano DeoreSHIFTERS R: Shimano DeoreSPOKES: WTB BlackTYRES: F > WTB Vigilante R> WTB Trail Boss Im just looking for some general direction on this like should the fork be done first or are the other parts that are critical to do first. any advice is welcome thanks guys
  4. Ahhh Sweet thanks so much guys now i get it sorry for the really doff moment there.
  5. Thanks but what does 11-36,34 and 32 mean im lost
  6. Okay so now the newbie part of me surfaces, these are my options for the SLX Shimano SLX Cassette (CS-HG81) 11-32 Shimano SLX Cassette (CS-HG81) 11-34 Shimano SLX Cassette (CS-HG81) 11-36I have no idea which one to use, when I look at my current cassette, CS-HG26-10 T11 any advice ?
  7. HI Guys, So time to replace my cassette in earlier posts i i had mentioned damage down to my 10tha and 9th gear after a damaged freebody created a lot of chain jumps resulting in damaged teeth and a now permanently jumpy 10 and 9th gear. So i got some advice from an unnamed bike shop and though I would see what you guys had to say on it, I thrash my MTB hard and put a lot of pressure down on the crank (103kgs) lol, so i was advise to go with the heavier cassette like a Deore or SLX instead of the XT range as they just get lighter and for what im doing im not stressed on weight i just want apart that will take its beatings day in and day out. So any advice on a chain and Cassette currently im looking at Deore or SLX cassette and chain. Cheers
  8. Thanks so much. so if i use a deore XT and an XT chain i should be fine ?
  9. no photos on me, i will check on the spacer, what would you suggest, im a heavy rider and can put down alot of torque on the crank i need somethign that will last.
  10. Um yeah i would check your freebody out, thats alot of play, when you hold the 1st gear sprocket and giggle back and fourth it shoud not be 4mm, take your cassette off when you get a chance and then check the freebody on the hub.
  11. yeah I been up there a few times there is also a part of the down hill track by the chines brick road, im keen to take that jump but im sure its ether gonna be amazing or a fail video for the net ha ha.
  12. Okay so i did vlei park this weekend as i had my miss's wirh me and it was her first trail ride, it was nice on green i took all thw blue slips and about 10km in got a gash in my tyer so i walked it back ha ha, next weekend im gonna hit thaba.
  13. Hey I took cassette off checked freebody, all was good put it back on and the play was still there about 1mm, i found out that my 9th and 10th sprocket has damaged teeth causing the jumps, so saving for a XTR, unless anyone can recommend better.
