  1. Great advice; at end of the day, money talks.
  2. I will PM you. Thanks for the response.
  3. To be honest, the Service Manager, as he introduced himself, I spoke to did tell me that he had already consulted with "top management." I saw no point in trying twice. There were a few things he said that were not consistent but I took it at face value and that was what I experienced and wrote in the original post. The fact that the technician had "resigned," might actually be better for Cycle Lab to not have an incompetent staff member working for them and trashing their reputation. I just reported what I experienced from someone who was a happy customer, until I found out that the service I paid for was not carried out.
  4. My business textbook says that your info is about 60 years out of date. Just saying.
  5. ok, thanks for your opinion. that's what forums are for.
  6. I can do it myself, but my LBS that sold me the bike was so good, I never considered it previously. It might be a good idea going forward. Thanks
  7. I technically dont have a LBS as I bought my bike overseas and recently returned. I heard wonderful things about Cycle Lab and I was staying with family in Fourways for a week or so so decided to kill 2 birds with one stone... So still looking for a LBS
  8. Thanks Martin. That was a real welcome. I have actually been registered as a member for some time; just never to post anything but it seems I have created a stir first time I'd rather it be like this so I know people are reading and have an opinion; something like a real community which, lets face it, does not happen in real life to often.
  9. I hope to be a big boy like you one day
  10. Talk is cheap. Anybody could have said that after the fact.
  11. Not a chance of a retraction, mate. How often do you get your headset serviced? Every 700 km?
  12. Apparently the technician resigned. The manager tried to used it as a defence actually. Look, I didn't expect free stuff when I took my bike there, I was happy to pay the money. The fact that their workmanship was poor does not excuse the fact that I did not get what I paid for and I should be compensated appropriately. I wasn't asking for a punitive amount, I simply wanted a refund for something I had to pay again to get the job done properly. And if you read my initial post, I had an issue in the first week; I simply didn't think it was worth it to spend R100 driving my bike across town when the guy up road could retorque the crank bolts for R50.
  13. Thats really interesting. One of my friends, a good cyclist and well connected to other cyclists, told me that Cycle Lab Fourways is supposed to be the "best." After this incident, I have changed his mind.
  14. About 700 km based on the fact that I ride about 30km a week, nearly every week. No races or any rides longer than 50km since the service, so one can't blame my sweat dripping down the headset; I usually only ride with water and I wipe down my bike after every ride.
