  2. So only the 95km route, gravel bikes can do? not the 105km?
  3. Let's go with.... no weather model is that accurate to predict 7 days in advance.
  4. Has anyone booked a car shuttle service that they will no longer use? In need of one for the Race.
  5. Maybe I will join... that is if I win the Lotto before the 1st
  6. Classic Sabie. Slick as a bar of soap...
  7. Lowveldchaingang.co.za
  8. Not sure about your fitness, but Sabie can be a beast. Average time for a fit rider in good conditions is about 5hrs. Winning time around 3h40. Climbs are steep and descents are tricky, especially if its wet.
  9. Pack some wet lube guys!!! and fit new brake pads!!
  10. In my case I've got the 11 speed, so maybe there is a difference between the 10 and 11 Tanpan shifting quality. It did need some fine tuning initially.
  11. True that. The last 3km is madness. IF you still feel good there, it will take you around 20min, IF you are dying, closer to 40min
  12. The road RD spring tension is pretty weak compared to the MTB RD, plus the XT RD have a clutch as well which helps with chain retention. Riding a Cannodale slate with the lefty makes it a good gravel bike which is close to a hardtail MTB. I stay in Middelburg MP which has a lot of dirt roads, but its not the kind of quality you would see in WC. Going 1x will work using a 105 RD, but not sure if the chain will stay on if the road turns bad, I guess a chain guide will help in that matter. I also havent experienced the road link before, but from what I know from couple years back when 1x10 conversions was a thing, adjusting the B-tension so that the RD further away from the cassette to allow the larger gear ratio, did make the shifting less crisp, so the road link might have similar effect on shifting quality.
  13. Nope. Road shifter not compatible with MTB RD. There are two options, either the Wolftooth goatlink and use the same 105 RD, or a Wolftooth tanpan which is a cam device to alter the shift indexing so that a road shifter works with a MTB RD. I run 1x11, shimano hydraulic shifter with M8000 XT med cage RD with the tanpan and works great. https://www.wolftoothcomponents.com/products/tanpan
  14. We will all need an update on road conditions closer to the event, so we will rely on you local knowledge. Expecting an update 2nd week of April....
  15. My setup for Swartberg 100 is as follows: (weight: 70kg) Cannondale slate WTB resolute 42mm tires, 25-30 psi 1x11 setup 48T chainring 11-42 Cassette Now I need to work on the legs to push that gear up the swartberg.
