  1. In Hawaii I slept in camp grounds and by / in Airbnb accomodations. In the US / Colorado too. But for me it was a bucketlist tour, so I had known that it wouldn't be cheap.
  2. :) Thanks ! I know that there are great ascents there with huge heightdifference And in Chile and / or Venezuela too. But maybe in Chile and venezuela those roads aren't paved to the top / summit / pass.
  3. Thanks It was on my bucket list, because I knew how wonderful and great place it is, but it's true that there are more beautiful places in the Big island, but for a cycloclimbing addict (like me) it was a must
  4. Hello ! In August I cycled the World's hardest climb and I've just finished editing a trailer video. Mauna Kea is the most difficult road bike cycling climb of the World based on the data of salite.ch and climbbybike.com, the two most serious cycling climbs's collections. It's an epic climb, a monster ! Mauna Kea has 2 ascents: the Hilo side is harder than the Kona side ! Both starts by the Pacific Ocean (Big island, Hawaii) and ends just at the top of the 4205 m high peak. The 1st 50 km long section is not too hard: the average steepness is below 5% (for more than 2000 m heightdifference), but the last 20 kms has 2000 m heightdifference that means 10% steepness; the maximum grade is 17-20%. Other difficulty is the thin air above ca. 3300-3500 m (at the top there is 40% less oxygen than by the ocean) and a 7 km long gravel-sandy section above 2800 m. At last there is another thing to made it tough: there is only one place to get water, buy some snack, drink: the Visitor Center after ca. 55 kms at the height of 2800 m. That's why that when I left the ocean, at sunrise I carried ca. 5 liters of water. In the last hour of the daylight several cars go up to the summit to enjoy the sunset. Because I cycled all of the paved climbs finishing above 2000m in the Alps, Pyrenées and Canary islands and cycled up to Pico Veleta, I had to say that it is really the toughest cycling climb of the Earth; it was harder than any other climbs that I cycled before, much harder than Monte Zoncolan, Grosser Oscheniksee, Speikkogel, Angliru, etc. Have pleasure with it ! 5. La Palma is the steepest island of the World; its highest peak is 2426 m high: Roque de los Muchachos. Its eastern ascent starts at oceanlevel I climbed it twice: once its eastern, once its western side. I recorded GoPro video on its descents: it shows stunning scenery, views to the volcano, caldera, onto the clouds above the ocean, etc... The video shows a part of why La Palma is called: la isla bonita = beautiful island. Thanks for watching and hope You like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6APrQ3uzFI Gabor http://www.facebook.com/cycling.high
  6. Hello ! It is said that Dolomites is one of the most beautiful mountain range of the Earth. Last August I cycled there a week and we had great weather I edited a 57 minutes long spinning / indoor cycling / training video about our tours there. It contains the following climbs, passes: Ortisei - Seiser alm, Alpenhotel Panorama (2015 m), Passo Gardena (2121 m), Passo Pordoi (2239 m), Passo Giau (2236 m), Passo Rolle, (1970 m), Passo Manghen (2042-47 m), La Villa - Passo Varparola (2192 m) and as a bonus a climb not far from the Dolomites: Vipiteno - Passo Pennes (2211 m) Note: Ortisei - Seiser Alm, Alpenhotel Panorama is a hard, but great cimb: the upper section and the top is one of the most wonderful places of the Dolomites. I hope You like it; it can give you ideas where to cycle in the Dolomites, or you can use it for training (I think ) Best regards, Gábor http://www.facebook.com/cycling.high http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjH9DWwo57o
  7. Hello, This video is a video about a memorable day, when I cycled in a valley (Valle di Lanza in Piemont) where I felt almost like at the end of the World. Above the clouds it was wonderful, breathtaking.... but at halfway I kept on cycling although there was a barrier. But it was worth cycling upwards.... Waterfalls everywhere, not only the nature and me + few clouds, but at the end of the road: chamoises Unforgettable ! I hope You like it and thanks for watching ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUMpfbVKfWo Gábor

(there is a long video about it too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fP8A6FcNOv8 Best wishes: Gábor Few pics of the challenge: http://www.gyorgyigabor.hu/2015kepek_dolomit/20150807_Molveno10.JPG http://www.gyorgyigabor.hu/2015kepek_dolomit/20150807_Stelvio1.jpg http://www.gyorgyigabor.hu/2015kepek_dolomit/20150808_Gavia8.jpg
  10. Hello ! I'm happy to present my cycling video about the italian permanent brevet Brenta - Ortles (officially 363 km + 8088 m). Time to finish: 34 hours. It's route is wonderful and challenging (with legendary Giro d'Italia climbs): Pietramurata - Molveno - Passo Palade (1518 m) - Merano - Passo dello Stelvio (2760 m) -landslide on the descent - Bormio - Passo di Gavia (2621 m) - Ponte di Legno - Passo del Tonale (1883 m) - Dimaro - Passo Campo Carlo Magno (1682 m) - Stenico - Pietramurata. I loved it very much and beside it was adventurous because on the Stelvio descent I had to climb through rocks because serious landslides caused by a strom. During the winter I will edit a longer, ca. 40 minutes long video too and in few weeks time I will share a ca. 2 pages long travelogue about it. I can truely suggest riding this wonderful challenge or parts of the route ! Thanks for watching ! Gábor
  11. Hello ! Few weeks ago I had a 17 days long bicycle tour in the Alps, Europe. In the middle of the tour I participated on an extrem level cycling event: Super Randonné Prealpina (618 kms + 12674 m hieghtdifference) in Italy. It's a cyclotouring event in northern Italy, by the lakes: Lago Maggiore, Lago Lugano, Lago d'Orta but contains 14 climbs: Banchette , Bochetto diSessera / Bielmonte , Alpe Noveis , Passo San Bernardo , Passo di Colma , Mottarone (1455 m), Piancavallo (1254 m), Pian dei Sali , Alpe di Neggia (1395 m) , Cademario , Lanzo d'Intelvi , Alpe Tedesco , Sette Termini , Passo Cuvignone (1036 m) To get the randonnee level you have to finish in 55 hours, but for the tourist version You have 7 days. After cycling 5 days in Switzerland I had 2 rest days and using the same touring bike I started the challenge; my aim was the randonné version after last year's successful ride by the Valtellina EXtreme Brevet (345 km + 8998 m --> 3 rounds) I edited a video about this bicycletour; have pleasure with it ! and besides I can truely suggest to participate or to face with this challenge: great ride and the landscape is wonderful ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VafwjRrMqU Gabor
  12. Hello ! In the last decade I cycled more than 25000 kms in the Alps Pyrénées, Sierra Nevada or Canary islands (all of them in Europe), while I love the mountains very much. I've just edited a compilation / best of video about a great bicycletour in the French Alps with several legendary climbs, ascents. It happaned in the year 2011. After the first 2 days I cycled in France and visited famous, Tour de France cols, climbs, like Bonette (2802 m), Col d'Izoard (2360 m), Alpe d'Huez, Col du Galibier (2645 m), Col de l'Iseran (2770 m), but few hardly known ones, like Parking du Laus, Le Saut, Plan de Lac (2360 m) - one of my favourite. I saw chamois, unfortunately only for few seconds, but in the year 2014 on a hardly known italian ascent (will be presented in few weeks time smile hangulatjel ) offered me the opportunity to record 2 chamoises for video for ca. 1 min long. At La Bonette (2802 m) I got the best amazing weather that I could: sunshine with very small clouds, cumuluses. Have pleasure with the video and thanks for watching You can find the video here: PS: in the future I will share other compilation videos about my other tours. Gabor
