  4. Hi Dan Thanks for the suggestion, only problem i see with age cats is that on the long race it can be Vets, Sub vets and seniors that could win the race so to split it into age groups wouldn't be fair, on the short race it is usually junior riders that win it but you could however make a "elite" batch with mixed age groups and then after that batch split it into age groups, we will have to look into it to find a working solution, the last thing you want as a rider is to be caught in a bottle neck on an awesome flowing single track.
  5. Mokgaga its in July, Final date still to be confirmed
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys, We always value the feedback (good or bad) the only way we can improve is by getting this feedback. With regards to the honesty seeding system, It will always remain a contentious issue and it may not be the best solution but we fine the same challenges with the traditional seeding systems as well, I bet you all have experienced getting stuck behind slow riders even in A batch. The fortunate thing about the Fast one is the long stretch of tar road at the start that usually sorts out any bottlenecks but if its not working we need to review the start procedure. We hope to see you at at the Winter Fast One!!

  10. Hey guys, we have made some changes to the 70km (67km actual) which is going to make the race ALOT tougher than previous years, the 40km remains the same but do not burn all your matches in the start of the long race, i will post the route and profile shortly

  12. there was no issues with the timing, the top 5 positions had to be adjusted due to some riders that took n wrong turn. other than that the timing was spot on Its such a bitter sweet feeling when you get compliments about an event after hearing that there were riders that didn't get water. So much work goes into an event like this and when even one rider has a bad experience we really take it personally, but thanks to everybody that commented about the race ... good and bad, without this feedback we cant improve on our event PS. I dont recall seeing you there Charles?
  13. Hi Scotty There is no way that we can justify water tables running out of water, many riders do plan their ride based on the availability of water at these points and rightly so i think, why carry 2 bottles if you know you can fill one up every 15 km, this is very unfortunate and we have spoken with the folks manning the water stations to try to figure out how this happened to avoid it in future and the feedback we got was due to the heat, many riders were pouring water over themselves to cool down and a number of guys riding with hydration packs re-filled them at the water points, this in no way justifies running out of water but it does highlight the fact that more water was consumed than normal and we will certainly take this into consideration for our next events.

  15. Hi Bluewhite We are extremely concerned to hear that the water tables ran out of water, this is never acceptable and is taken very seriously! The water tables let us know that their stock was low and we immediately sent replenishments, unfortunately it seems that it didn't make it to the tables in time and this lead to some riders not having water when they stopped there. All i can do is to apologize for the inconvenience, as mentioned, this is never acceptable and we will certainly ensure to stock the tables with more water in future. sorry that this put a damper on your event
  16. TyronLab, i have just posted the route that shows the waterpoints, as usual the waterpoints will be well stocked with bananas, cookies, coke, juice, sweets, water etc
  17. mtbDoddy, here is the route that also shows the waterpoints, unfortunately i dont have a route profile but i can tell you that its flat!! very flat!!
  18. That part of the route fondly referred to as the "black hole" has been cut out, We rode the route yesterday and it was surprisingly dry after all the rain we have had, as you mentioned, it is just the part in the photo that could potentially be muddy but hey its not a roadie race Can anybody remember the route in 2014? There was a massive storm upstream from the route the day before the race, when the route inspection was done on the morning of the race all the water crossings were fine, about a hour into the race all that water from the previous day came down and flooded the water crossing taking all the bridges we put up with it... some of the riders had to wade across shoulder deep in the water, this and the turf around that area necessitated the route change to what it is today, chances are pretty good that there will be some water on the route but there shouldn't be any serious mud from what we saw yesterday
  19. sorry i was wrong, the route i was looking at was from 2015 when the king of the mountain climb was still on the route, for the 2018 Summer Fast One the elevation difference on the 70km was 101m and the 40km was 71m
  20. Hi TyronLab This race lives up to its name as being fast!! the 60km has about 300m elevation gain so i would go ahead and join your friends.
  21. Hi Fond_TF2 will post the final route profile as soon as the route is done, there is a new section that we are working on for this years race but as usual the profile will pretty much be ______________________________________________________________________

  23. I think this is the lowest finish rate i have ever seen at a race! Well done to everybody that finished this race!! to give you an idea, only 2 people finished the 100km trail run and only 1 guy finished the 55km trail run, i think there was 20 finishes on the 200km MTB! those dog tags are well earned!
