  3. @jcza, i heard that there was a CX bike at the last fast one... apparently made a early breakaway but then suffered a sidewall cut. Obviously would have been DQ'ed due to the UCI regulations but to be honest, i have no idea what the reasoning behind the rule is
  4. @ NotSoBigBen although this would probably be the best weapon of choice for the Fast one races unfortunately UCI regulations state that the use of traditional road handlebars are forbidden. It would however be very interesting to see the reactions when the mtb riders get smoked by a "roadie"

  10. so sad! RIP Barry! thoughts and prayers go out to all family and friends
  11. Hi guys sorry only saw your posts now, with the current status of the water, the swim will take place, obviously this could change so the call will be made on Race day. The current is stronger than normal but certainly not something to worry about. due to the swim being counter clockwise you will be swimming with the current and when you turn around you are coming upstream against the side of the river where the current is not very strong. so there may actually be some record swim splits
  12. this is such a freak accident!! All the best for the recovery Barry!
  13. Event Name: Prestige Ultra Triathlon When: 26 February 2017 Where: Abrahamsrust, Freestate Category: Multisport Nestled between the willow trees along the banks of the vaal river is where you will find the race village of the Prestige Ultra triathlon taking place on the 26th of February this year. As usual you can expect a very fast and easy course – this is the ideal race sharpener for Ironman SA. Triathletes can race the prestige event over 3 distances – half ironman (1.9km swim/90km bike/21km run) Olympic Distance (1.5km swim/40km bike/10km run or sprint (750m swim/20km bike/5km run). The event is only a 60 minute drive from JHB and most certainly offers up the fastest half ironman course you will find in SA. Many races claim to have a fast route but if you compare the bike and run splits from the last few years, the Prestige Ultra can without a doubt claim to be a fast race with the last 3 years cycle leg fastest times being well under 02:30:00. A 1.9km river swim with little to no current as well as a 2 loop flat cycle and then a 2 loop run in the nearby Vaal Park area makes this event one of the best in the land. 26th FEBRUARY 2016ABRAHAMSRUST SASOLBURGGPS CO-ORDINATES S26 45.624 E27 49.721PRESTIGE ULTRA:1,9 KM / 90KM / 21KMSTARTING TIME: 07H00OLYMPIC DISTANCE:1,5KM / 45KM / 10KMSTARTING TIME: 07H30SPRINT DISTANCE:700M / 21KM / 5KMSTARTING TIME: 07H35 Go to Event Page

  15. Glad you enjoyed it SluggaRibs
  16. Hi Guys, thanks for the feedback it is always appreciated, With regards to the mud, there was a huge amount of work done on the route to avoid the notoriously muddy areas but with all the rain it was inevitable that there will be muddy sections. no matter how hard you try to plan, mother nature will always win Nettie R thanks for your comments and as you mentioned it is extremely hard sometimes to work out a short route when you have limited options at your disposal, We appreciate your comments and will certainly take that into consideration for the next event.
  17. Congrats NotSoBigBen, Look forward to seeing you there
  18. Hi mtbdobby, all the muddy sections from the previous route has been changed so there will not be any of the muddy / clay sections that caused the challanges in the past, will there be water? yes sure there will but certainly not something that is going to cause any issues.
  19. hey guys, sorry had a bit of a techno Challenge, unfortunately i can only give you the 35km profile but the 70km is not a lot different other than one steep climb, other than that is pretty flat too
  20. hey guys, i will upload a route profile a little later today

  25. @ Al Pal, i think this would be the perfect route for a rigid singlespeed, if i am not mistaken NotSoBigBen always rides his rigid singlespeed for this race, maybe he can tell you if its suitable or not
