  3. Hi Fanie thank you for your query. The decision to split the races over two weekends was taken as a result of the growth of the mountain bike event over the years. The size of the race now requires more time to ensure we can continue to deliver the high standard riders have become accustomed to.

Event Name: The Herald Continental Cycle Tour - MTB When: 19 February 2017 Where: Addo Polo Club, Eastern Cape Category: MTB The iconic Herald Continental Cycle Tour Mountain Bike race takes place on 19th February 2017 with both professional and amateur cyclists testing their strength and expertise on the routes set out in and around the citrus farming town of Addo. The 80km Extreme and 60km Adventure races have been streamlined to provide a better off-road experience while the fun riders are catered for with the 30km Leisure Challenge. Event Name: The Herald Continental Cycle Tour - Road When: 26 February 2017 Where: Pollock Beach, Marine Drive, Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape Category: Road The 32nd edition of the iconic Herald Continental Cycle Tour Road race will take place on 26th February 2017 with both professional and amateur cyclists testing their strength and expertise on the routes set out in and around Nelson Mandela Bay. Pollock Beach sees the start and finish of the 106km Classic - known for its scenic coastal route around the city. The supporting event for the Classic is the shorter 55km Pursuit. In addition to the feature races a fun 35 km Team Relay Challenge has been added to the line up on the 25th February. The 15 km Mountain Bike + the 20 km Road leg will see teams consisting of two members challenging each other for bragging rights at the office or school.   6. Hi all The Herald VW MTB Challenge is still going ahead tomorrow but unfortunatley due to the heavy rains the organisers have had to alter the routes for safety reasons. The course is wet and muddy.

Event Name: The Herald VW Cycle Tour 2012 When: 4 February 2012 Where: Addo Polo Club, Eastern Cape Category: MTB Welcome to The Herald VW Cycle Tour The weekend-long festival of cycling kicks off with the mountain bike challenge in Addo on Saturday the 4th February followed by the road events in Port Elizabeth on Sunday 5th February 2012. The 105km Classic, which starts and finishes at Hobie Beach is known for its scenic coastal route around the “wild side” of the city. The supporting road events for the Classic will be the 70km Pursuit and 40km Challenge. The 21km Leisure Ride, 2km Kiddies’ Ride and 500m Toddlers’ Dash provide more family-friendly options, with proceeds being donated to the children’s charity Reach for a Dream. On the mountain biking side, the 80km Extreme and 60km Adventure races have been streamlined to provide a better off-road experience, while the shortened 30km Leisure Challenge is aimed at fun riders. The 5km Kiddies’ Challenge and 500m Toddlers’ Dash complete the categories.
