  1. Not sure if my post showed... Try the - e-rudy.com website and look at the free gear offer!! I am getting all the free stuff with my order, Helmet, spare lenses, hydration pack etc etc. But I ordered photo chromatic prescription lenses - so mine were a bit more expensive. But free stuff costs more than my order...

e-Rudy only ships to USA addresses as far as I know...

  2. Something tells me you work for Rudy Project? On principal I will never by anything rudy project

, no offense to anyone that already uses there stuff

That's quite harsh - why not? And no I don't but like all their Italian brands...perhaps for all the wrong reasons??

  3. Seen Bell, Giro, Specialised and Met mentioned here...want to throw another one in - Rudy Project and specifically the new Rudy Project Sterling helmet - best helmet I ever owned when I take the following into account. I do not see too many of these on the road and was wondering if any other Rudy helmet owners are happy with them too?

Comfort (padding is out of this world with extra bug net and extra set of padding) - removable and washable

Easy to adjust - dial on the back can be adjusted easily on your bike

    Lots of vents

    Weight: very light

Crash Replacement Policy - 65% discount on RRP - you never know...

Cool eyewear dock system - so simple but so useful!!

    Price - I paid approx R1600 incl

I haven't crashed with it yet but it has 4 different safety certificates...

  4. <P>Ok, I'm flying with my bike for the first time and is SUPER nervous!!! Just want to know what you guys think is the best way of getting my bike safely in Joburg. All tips/comments/advise would be appreciated<img src="https://assets.bikehub.co.za/legacy_images/smilies/smiley4.gif" height="17" width="17" border="0" align="absmiddle" alt="Big%20smile" /></P>

Just roll it in - have done the Lanseria / CTN loop with Kulula many times - no hassles. Just deflate tyres a bit and remove CO2 canister. Use some bubble rap to be safe.

Got a nice SCICON bike bag for my MTB recently from Bruce Reyneke - works very well if you want to be 100% sure – just take wheels off (they have a special compartment and fasten bike to grid structure inside bag. I got the soft bag (Aerocomfort Plus) - there is a hard case as well that looked fantastic but was too pricy for my pocket / bike...

  5. Anyone out there using a pair of these with the photochromic lenses. What they like and do the tint ( change colour ) well. Im interested in a pair for road and Mtb.

    Thanks

You can't go wrong. There is a promotion at the moment on these where you get a Rydon with these photochromic clear lenses with extra set of smoke lenses (FOC) and extra Rudy Project helmet (also FOC) - it is promoted on www.buycycle.co.za (you can see more info on this at www.asgsport.co.za)

Another option I looked at was the new Rudy Project SWIFT (see banner ad on the Hub) - it is being launched for R1290 incl (also with these same lenses) - again, look at www.asgsport.co.za (follow the "current ads and promos" link).

Also check out www.bikewear.co.za for pricing on these models.

    Good luck.

  6. My 2c. Tubbies are great for racing, but a real pain in the arse for training (the other 99% of the time you are on your bike)... I way 95kg and got me some MOST (division of Pinarello) Charisma carbon wheels (you get a tubby or clincher model) - I went for the clincher. Some other nice wheels with technical specs on the MOST website...follow the MOST link on the www.asgsport.co.za website -> click on "MOST online catalogue" to have a look.

    Good luck!

  7. Contacted the importers and the verdict is that the Photochromatic lenses cannot be fixed, buffed, or brasso'ed. Damn!

Send a mail to Heinrich@asgworld.co.za - this guy helped me under their "lens replacement guarantee" to replace my photchromic lenses at 60% off RRP (40%)...same as the helmet replacement guarantee Rudy Project offers (65% off RRP)...a lady from ASG (think it was Lizle) called me and it was sorted very quickly.

  8. I buy where I get the best price, a lot of (not all) shops have a distorted view of service vs profit. You get better service when you are one of the regulars who spend a lot of money in the shops.( Been there , done that :-))

i also think the wholsalers are to blame in a big way - these SRP's are bull... How can Kieran sell a top-end Bottecchia frame handmade in Italy at R19k vs any of the others. A top end CIOCC devilry (900gr ISP frame) can be supplied in SA at around R20k.

I am on my way to Europe and have received quotes for a new Pinarello at 50% of the local price.

    Eat... or be eaten

Where Bontie? Which model Pinarello. I shopped around - local prices on Pinarello was not bad compared to all web prices? Are you taking duties and VAT into account?? Local was even cheaper than CRC. Could get Pinarello Dogma frame locally - R44k incl ?

  9. Rudy RB3 is more than 10 years old - really crazy argument to even try and compare with Rudy (by the way did anyone notice Rudy Project riders got 1,2&3 in the Giro - not bad).  Consider also Rydon was originally launched in 2003 and is still the best Cycling eyewear in my view - that model has a long list of awards won over the years and the ImpactX photochromic lenses are the best out there in my view.  Also saw these new models on the new www.buycycle.co.za website - really cool!

For R1290 (RRP) with Photo Clear lenses I think it's worth checking out!

    NEWS RELEASE

    April 16, 2010

Monterrey, CA ? Bicycling magazine announced the 2010 winners of its popular Editors? Choice Awards at the Sea Otter Classic today. Heading the list as the Best Race Bike was the Pinarello Dogma 60.1. Taking over from the Pinarello Prince, the winner in 2008 and ?09, the Dogma?s award marks the forth consecutive year that a Pinarello bike has taken the coveted top prize.

Fausto Pinarello, President of Cicli Pinarello was elated with the victory. When asked about it, he replied, ?It?s fantastic to win this again. To have all of our hard work validated by the positive feedback from our customers and from professional athletes and awards like this is very satisfying. It?s great to get confirmation like this?

The Dogma 60.1 was introduced at the 2009 Tour de France by the Cassie d?Epargne team. The world?s first totally asymmetric frame, the Dogma 60.1 is made Torayca? 60HM1K incorporating Nanoally Technology? and utilizing Pinarello?s exclusive EPS? molding system. This the year the Dogma 60.1 is again being used by the Cassie d?Epargne team, plus the new Team Sky and the US based Bissell Professional Cycling team. Those attending the Sea Otter classic can see the Dogma 60.1 in action as the Bissell team contests the road races.

  11. Finally some competition for CWC online monopoly...check out www.bikewear.co.za  I visited the store in Pta two weeks ago during a trip and the ladies working there is a nice bonus too!!  I have to say there prices are the lowest by a country mile and service was fantastic!  Gauteng guys now have there own "CWC" in the North!

  12. Hi there, best is to call Bernhard (he sorted me out through my own optom).  His cell: 082 4562645.  Think the insert was approx R600 without the script.  My med fund paid for this and script.

The insert clips in behind the lens (there are small little holes on both sides of the bridge of the frame - very neat!)

    Good luck!

Ps. Consider direct in frame script for Rydon - more expensive but works great!  Speak to Bernhard!
