    XX1

Is XX1 for your average, social cyclist? This may have been addressed in this forum already but at 12 pages of posts I can't find it. I am not as fit as I should be but get around multi-day events such as Houwhoek, Greyton and W2W near the tail end of the pack. Is XX1 a good choice or do I need the additional gear ratios of other gearsets?
  2. I understood that the UST version had thicker tyre walls which is why they were heavier but also suitable for tubeless. But I'm glad to hear the non-UST versions will work and if the weather remotely improves will make the switch and try it this weekend.
  3. I just bought Continental Mountain Kings - 29 X 2.2. The UST version was not available. Will this still work for a tubeless conversion?
  4. I have a Merida AM 3000 bought in 2008. Everything pretty standard I think - XT components. I had a tubeless conversion done and it has new Continental Mountain King tyres. Mileage is probably about 2000km in total overall in very good condition. Any ideas on the value? I recently bought a 29er and now need to sell.
  5. I was about to order a 29er on www.cbbikes.com. The payment mechanism became so onerous that I eventually gave up. I subsequently did a search and found out the whole site may be a scam. Has anyone here in SA ordered a bike from them and received it? Has anyone lost money?
  6. I'v been recommended to switch from my Crossmarks to Continental Mountain King for the Cape Pioneer Trail (jeep track in Oudtshoorn). Anyone have thoughts on using a specialized tyre like this for these conditions?
