  1. Thanks everyone. R10k is what I was offered a few years back through a friend of a freind, did not know if it was a serious offer, but was planning to keep it so never followed up.

Good to know what it is worth, now I just have to face letting it go.

  2. I have a BMX from the 80's, the tires and brakes are obviously shot, frame corroded and turning parts don't turn so well.

I am leaving SA and need to get rid of some stuff, that unfortunately includes my first bike. I believe some of these old BMX's are quite sort after. Does anyone know if this is one and a fair price to ask for it?

  3. Old thread but could not find anything recent.

Where is a good place for a RS Fork service in Fourways area? The lockout does not function very well anymore, still get about 25% movement with it locked.

I have had it in before, but repair only lasted a couple of weeks. Not sure what they did, I was just happy it was working at the time.

  4. If I understand correctly, you get 25% of a max R20 000 back if you meet your goals over 36 Months, so R 5000 back, minus the R 800 you must pay to activate the Team Vitality Cycling benefit.

So effectively, maximum you get back is (R 5000 – R 800) / 36 = R117 per month for 36 months. Less that the Vitality membership fee.
  5. Thanks guys.

i believe I have the right size, i am 182cm and got the large.

The top tube on the Silverback is 20mm longer than the scott, it might be this than I am feeling, just dont know if 20mm can make that much of a difference to warrant changing bikes with additional cost.

But if the Silverback is a better bike then it may be worth an extra R5k

  6. Hi All

Some advice please for a new rider.

I have been riding a Scott Aspect 910 2016 for few weeks now but have an option to change it for a Silverback Sola 2 2016. I have been doing a few trails around the JHB area and find myself moving back on the seat even though it is set back as far as it can safely go. I have tried the Silverback and it does feel more comfortable, but riding it in a store is going to be quite different from doing a trail, so difficult to base my decision on a couple of laps around the store.

Another thing to consider is I am heavy, around 120kg and in my 40’s so am never going to be that serious but I would like something that will last me awhile as my skill improves.

Considering the two bikes, quality wise and potential for keeping me happy as my skills improve, which would be the better to go for?

    Thanks
