  1. Riding on a roller takes some concentration. Riding off it on accident will happen sooner or later. Its no big deal, few scuff marks on the carpet and you?re going again. But hitting that thing will cause one hell of an accident.skaduwee2009-08-14 02:07:52
  2. And what happens when your spoke hits this part???
  3. You're not joking there! I was going to buy one of the Magnetic Resistance add-ons when I was planning to buy my rollers - glad I didn't. It provides more than enough of a workout as it is' date=' without adding resistance. A half an hour on the rollers flattens me more than a 65km Saturday ride. But I suppose one day I may find the workout too easy - anything is possible. The big plus for me is the improvement in technique and stability that is carrying over to my road riding. It's not for everyone, but I find it to be a great tool for improving my riding. Cheers, Andrew [/quote'] Yeah i agree, I have no idea how tence the resistance is on the new tacx, but the Magnetic Resistance add-on certainly issn't required on the older tacx roller. Exacly like Spinnekop said, it wil kill you. I really liked the old tacx it was very quite and had a smooth ride, hope the new would be atleast of same quality or even better.
  4. I think your wrong, with leg length they mean inseam. 1)For most people the inseam * 109% is slightly too high. And you want to tell me you want to multiply the LEG LENGTH by 109%??? 2)Why would they post a tutorial on how to set saddle height when it requires X-Rays. That just doesnt cut it for me im sorry.
  5. I found this article on www.velosmart.com (Hope its ok to post this here else i will remove) "Saddle height Alteration of the saddle height changes joint angles and muscle lengths, thereby changing the kinematics of cycling and the force output of muscles. In a number of studies relating power output to saddle height adjustments, the optimal saddle height, using a seated upright position, has been reported to be 109% of leg length. This height is considered most efficient for tasks requiring anaerobic work of high intensity for short durations, and approximately 1% less power is delivered for every 1%that the saddle height deviates ? in either direction ? from 109% of leg length. This is obviously of particular importance to track sprint cyclists, who are required to produce extremely high power outputs for very short periods. Studies looking into the effects of saddle height adjustments on oxygen consumption and lower limb kinematics have shown that, under steady state conditions against a moderate workload, a saddle height of between 105%and 107% of leg length requires the lowest oxygen consumption. Lower oxygen consumption for the same power output denotes increased efficiency, which is of particular importance to both touring cyclists and endurance stage racers, who have to ride for long period."
  6. Its for Road and my cranks are 172.5 I dont like the 0.883 method since it doesnt really support for different crank arm lengths.
  7. According to LeMond formula i should ride 92.1 cm from Pedal to Seat, but i ride it on 89cm. Is this bad? Can i leave it like this?
  8. I dont even use a cycle computer. I dont want to know the distance, speed or avg during a race. For me its all a mind thing. Your HR monitor says Go but your legs says No.. and you end up getting dropped on the next climb. I ride how i feel. The only thing i'd use a HR is just to keep your heart out of danger zone.
  9. Hi, I have some issues with getting the ideal seat height. Maybe some tips or advice would be highly appreciated. My Inseam: 84.5 cm I used various formulas to try and get the right height but the saddle felt way too high. I used the LeMond?s 109% and that got me to 92.1cm. I?m currently riding with a 107% which gets you to 90.5 cm. I want a setup that?s good for endurance/long climbs; I don?t do TT or don?t really worry about speed. (Incase this plays a role) I prefer it 89 or 90, but is this too low according to my inseam?
