Event Name: Homecoming Veldtrap Met Woorde When: 5 March 2017 Where: Coetzenberg, Stellenbosch, Western Cape Category: Multisport CYCLE AND RUN WITH WORDS DURING THE US WOORDFEES On Sunday March 5 Coetzenburg near Stellenbosch will host mountainbike and fun run challenges called the Homecoming Velddtrap met Woorde: Ek skop stof op in my taal as part of the annual US Woordfees. What makes the event different is that it commemorates Afrikaans by having participants run with words unique to the language. So are you TANDESTOKKIE or MOEGOE? BABBELAS or PARAAT? We celebrate the unique Afrikaans words that make our language so special. After the race athletes will be able to participate in the conservation program. They will receive a spekboom and a handmade wire medal. The event forms partof the Stellenbosch University’s inaugural Maties Homecoming Weekend 2017, complete with a range of exciting activities tailor-made for Maties alumni.
