  1. Tokai, Majik Forest, Hillcrest and Contermanskloof. Easy riding at Koeberg. PM me - I might be able to guide you around Majik Forest, Hillcrest and Contermanskloof.
  2. For MTB join Tygerberg MTB - 200 members, very active, lots of benefits, reasonable fees, own trails with kilometres of ST on 2 locations and permission to ride on certain farms in the Durbanville area. Go to tygerbergmtb.co.za
  3. I encountered 2 groups of MTB riders this morning between 6 and 6.30 am coming up the hill from D'Aria and crossing Majik on their way to the Van Riebeeckshof area. Any idea where these rides depart from and at what time? Weekend schedule? Distance and pace of the rides? Thanks
  4. The CSA levy is very simple - they target funriders to generate funds that are supposed to be used to improve competetive cycling in SA, altough there is no sign of this happening. Funriders are not on the agenda of the CSA and will never be. It is even worse if you are a MTB rider that only do the funrides as about 99% of all MTB riders do - you just get ripped without anything in return. The only way as a MTB rider to keep most of your money away from CSA and "donate" it to a worthwhile cause is to join a MTB club that is involved in developing and mantaining trails - at least your money is used to improve facilities and in return you do not have to pay the R30 CSA levy if you want to do a funride (just make sure that the club is affiliated to CSA - yes, CSA will still get their hands on some of your money, but that will be indirectly via the club.) There is also no need to join the PPA if you are a club member.
  5. If been to 5 races so far and 3 out of the 2 I had to pay for the R30 day licence + entrance R80ish + R5 temporay number and im not a PPA member, I dont understand how this works, please could someone explain how this works to us? You have to pay the R30 if you are not a member of a cycling club that is affiliated to CSA. You do not have to be a PPA member to avoid paying the R30 day licence; you can also belong to any other cycling club, but the club must be affiliated to CSA. I am not a PPA member, but is a member of Tygerberg MTB club and pay an annual membership fee of R185. For that I do not pay the R30 at funrides, I get 50% discount on entry fees for the club's annual funride (scheduled for 15 November this year) and I get to ride for free as often as I like at the new Hillcrest trails that will be opened this coming weekend (12 Sept). Non club members will pay R20 for every ride at Hillcrest. For more detail go to www.tygerbergmtb.co.za
