Silverstreak

The race - Bakwena - 95km. Just turned at the 50km mark -busy riding with VC bunch, when a guy pulls out of the bunch and begs for a allen key set ! His saddle had come loose - brand new bike and he had left his set in the car. I said I would pull over and help ! We loose about 5min and he can't thank me enough ! He then tells me " tuck in and I will drag you back to your mates and the bunch". Wind was lekker strong, but this "Champ" of a rider pulled me all the way back, to where I wanted to be and then bolted on to regain a decent time ! At the end of my race - there he was waiting - to personally thank me again !! Wasn't necesary -but he made sure that he did ! Great to see top riders take the time and are genuine in their efforts to "pay back" to the sport ! Glen Fowler - you are a "Gent & a Scholar" ! I did okay - thanks !

The MTB boys all swear by " Chocalate milkshakes" - works like a charm !!!

On behalf of the committee - A huge thank you to each and everyone who joined us on our Inaugural Club Ride today. Despite the inclement weather the turn-out was fantastic. We had over 55 riders - recording no accidents and a couple of flat tyres. Well done to all who participated. Thank you to those who signed up and paid today and to those who have pledged to do EFT's in the coming week. The committee were elected after the ride and minutes were taken. Will forward all the contact names and details in the coming week. A reminder for all riders who ride regularly to please forward me the ride times and details so that we can forward on to other interested members. Phakisa have asked me to extend an invitation to any riders interested - to join them tomorrow - 8 November - 05:30 at the Engen Garage / Wimpy in Freeway Park - 25km average - 100km ride. We go past Boksburg stadium -collect some riders on route - up elizabeth rd - collect more at atlasville - go up mercury -go around to pamona rd - through kempton (around airport) - at this point some of the riders might head back home through SAA technical area's and along Rondebult rd -to home. +- 50km The rest go down Modderfontein rd - past Edenvale hospital - up to Sylvia's pass - down past Bruma - Primrose - elandsfontein - back to Atlasville along Ridge rd - down Atlas rd - via Vandyk park -past Virgin gym - back to Sunward traffic lights . 95km . Note; No following vehicle - Bring helmet & 2 water bottles ( we do stop for a coke - sometimes ) - enjoy the hills, but we never leave buddies behind ! We also try and teach new riders ! My apologies ! But you should of heard the langauge & hand signs given by the first motor cyclist ! Mine where meek & mild !!

With after thought - it was "Stupid" - but unfortunatly I had nothing else to use !

On the Pricess Audi ride yesterday - as we where coming out of Heidelberg on the way to Balfor - we noticed a rider (lady) up ahead of us ! She was wearing "Konica Minolta" kit - riding in soft gears with high cadence -just on a easy training ride. We pulled up next to her and started chatting - I had no clue who she was - but we had a great 15 to 20km -ride and chat with our group ! Even when I asked about races & times - she was very modest and just said things like " The Amashova" was good fun and she did fair - "Telkom Satelite" was quite good - and so on ! When we got to the Balfor turn- she wished us all good riding and she headed back to Heidelberg. When I got home yesterday after the race - I put on the recorded "Amashova" super sport race coverage ! Who do I see - this same lady " Yolandi du Tout" ! Fantastic - we got the chance to ride with one of the best and she was a "Champion " of a person ! A privaledge to have met you !! Went and rode the Princess Audi -Springs Girls High 98km yesterday. I decided to teach down & ride with a slower beginer group of 5 riders. Great day for riding ! Coming in at about the 90km mark -road was a bit narrow- we rode a tight 2 abreast -with a follower marshall behind us. Two motor cyclists came up next to me in front ! first one swore and said that we were holding up the traffic for 2km (which was %#@!"), then after I shouted to him and told him he is a complete ------- and could he not see a race on !!! His buddy pulls up next to me and starts to force me of the road to the left (nobody fell ). I tried to reach his helmet and pull him off his bike- but he took off ! The Marshal behind us - chased him and took a pic of his number plate - then handed it to the traffic officials ! Lets see if this "Fool" gets his due ! Thanks to all the "other" motor cyclists who help with all our races - you guys are still great ! Also to the marshals - who are always there for us !
