  1. Thanks; there are certainly some similarities. Looks like 1st 3st and last 3km are the same; but it may go the opposite way after that. I think it might go up 'Young Bafana' (in 2022 this was a descent). It is also 2km longer; but with +350m more ascent and descent.
  2. Thinking ahead to the Prologue; in just over 10 weeks... (to both training and predicting my prologue time). So has anyone (who knows the area quite well) managed to plot the route on one of the Route Mapping sites? Or even ridden it and have a gpx file of the route?
  3. Have fun tomorrow. Let us know how you get on/your impressions of the route. Quick qu. How do you get a pass to ride at Lourensford? Was thinking I might try next Friday as Saturday feels too close to be doing an 1h30 ride…
  4. From what I ca tell I think it will be a good course for a Prologue. You want to make sure everyone gets to the end in a shape to start Stage 1! And there will be plenty of opportunity to push on the climbs to get ready for the hard days ahead. Do you have a Strava link to your friends ride? Be interesting to see. I wouldn’t worry about your start time. Just based off an estimate; plenty of riders will have been over-ambitious in how quickly they can complete the course.
  5. As far as I can tell; I did it to get a feel for the challenge ahead; and to create an estimated workout for the trainer.
  6. Here is my first draft; not quite the right route but looks Ok): https://www.bestbikesplit.com/public/201061
  7. Yes; I wanted to use the gpx in Best Bike Split to create a power plan; and then create a Trainer workout.
  8. Hi. I was hoping to try to plot (an approximate) gpx for the Prologue Route based off the route profile. 0km Lourensford 5km Canarie 7km Rasta 11km Unknown peak 17km Young Bafana 19km Witboom 22km Ultimate 24km Lourensford Does anyone know these sections? Have any details of how best to do this? Many thanks
  9. Thanks. Let me know if you need more info. I'm basically after a bike for approx 1/2 day (Tue/Wed) to ride out to Chapmans Peak as it looks like a half decent ride! (and more scenic than we get back home!) Thanks, Richard
  10. Daniel, I submitted an online request yesterday evening - let me know if you didn't receive it. Thanks. Richard
  11. I have a few days in Cape Town (Kloof/Higgovale area) and would be keen to hire a road bike for a ride out to Chapman's Peak. Any ideas of somewhere local that I can hire a bike (just a standard alu road bike would be fine). Thanks.
  12. What sort of things are for sale in the race village? Are the finishes usually close to a town centre? i.e. Is it possible to buy - food, drink, ice cream, toiletries? What about bike stuff - tyres, shoes, etc? Thanks.
  13. Any tips for those of us first timers camping: What to take: sleeping bag, torch, anything else? What rating sleeping bag is required in March? 2 Season? Any other tips for camping at Cape Epic?
  14. Try this: https://www.biosport.co.za/amp/events/cape-epic-2017
  15. Planning transport to the Prologue an onto Stage 1. When are the Prologue start times usually released? Thanks.
