Varsity MTB Challenge

Launched in 2016, the Varsity MTB Challenge is aimed at all MTB enthusiasts.

Riders, from the pros to weekend warriors, were blown away by the total race experience at the inaugural Varsity MTB Challenge and the 2017 race will not disappoint. 

Race details:

• 30 September and 1 October 2017, Franschhoek and Paarl
• Race village at: La Paris Estate, Franschhoek
• Two-day stage race 
• Team race, with teams made up of two riders
• Distance: 107 km
• Ascent: 2 500m

The Varsity MTB Challenge is unique as it’s the only mountain bike race in South Africa where the general public ride for their university of their choice. It brings together old friends and foes, young and experienced riders in a challenge to crown the best MTB university in the country.

The race is designed to not only challenge the hardy MTB riders, but surprise and entertain everyone along the way. Expect unique water points with special treats, spectacular spectator points and the best rider facilities on offer at the race village.

The races are sanctioned by Cycling South Africa.
