Event Name: Lormar Endurance Cycle Tour 2012 When: 21 September 2012 - 24 September 2012 Where: Fairview Middelburg EC, Eastern Cape Category: MTB Great yet challenging tour hosted by SAMTB tours from 21 to 24 September. Three day event with 4 exciting stages. Not only for the rider or team, but for the whole family (check out www.samtbtours.com). This event caters for the social rider with experience in Mountain Biking. ABOUT THE TOUR: We want to give you the ultimate Karoo experience! The tour will be held on an Arabian horse farm close to Middelburg EC (+- 700km form JHB or CPT) We are providing a tour for the whole family not just for the single rider. At the Lormar tour its all about the vibe, food, relaxation, family great scenery and riding for a great cause! Our main goal at the tour is to raise funds for local schools in the community providing them with bicycles to get from point A to B much easier! There are about 400 kids on farm schools that have to walk to school every morning. South Africa’s Professional riders will be helping together to raise funds. STAGES: Stage 1 : 21 September 2012 21 km Night ride Start the ride with the beautiful Karoo sun setting in the distance. The route is not too technical as mostly jeep track can be expected. The lanterns will lead you through the course but remember your lights as most of your ride will be in the dark. Stage 2: 22 September 2012 67km Expect a challenging but scenic route with single track, jeep track and district roads which leads through three neighbouring farms. This is the toughest stage of the tour but still manageable. Stage 3: 23 September 2012 65km The route goes through another neighbouring farm. This is a game farm so expect to see some of South Africa's most precious animals along the way. Come back to locally made cheese platter and beer from the famous brewery in the area. Stage 3b: 23 September 2012 20 Minute Criterium 1.85km lap Just for the fun of it and for the riders that have never experienced such an event, the route will take you through horse stables over dam walls over a water bridge testing your skill aswell as you level for fun! Accommodation: • Each rider has 1 three-person tent (2m X 2m). • Comfortable mattresses will be provided. • You will be required to bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. • Tents will be erected for you. • Shower and toilet facilities Camping facilities available if you want to bring your own tent or other camping equipment. Each water point will serve water, energy drinks and energy snacks. At breakfast, you can make sandwiches to carry with you if you feel you require more nutrition for the ride. We recommend that you carry your own favorite brand of energy bars, gels etc. Neutral Support can take any clothing you might need on the route. There will be backup vehicles on the route that can pick you up if requested by you. Medics on the route to assist you incase you sustain an injury. Carry on with main road (Meintjies st) towards a traffic light (the only 1 in town!) Turn right (coming from Colesberg or left coming from Graaff-Reinette), head on to a T-junction, turn left and 1st right into Richmond road (R398). Carry on with this road for approximately 48km. The farm Fairview will be on your left. Coming from Cape Town: Take 1st gravel road just pass Richmond to the right on the R398. Carry on for approximately 65km. Fairview will be on your right.
