  1. Do we have any lawyers in here willing to take on something like this?
  2. go follow this thread: 2011 Vets and Men 50+ @Big H --> how do you help organise if the CSA does not listen ... just read the above thread ... wake-up call buddy.
  3. So where are the pictures of the Vet ladies .. oh wait ... the race did not happen. @onetrackmind --> how do you get on with something if you are not allowed to get on with it, if the CSA in their own words say that they can not even trust their own officials to ensure the safety of the riders? These oficilas allowed some of the groups to start without a lead-out OR following vehicle ... and then they later state that rider safety is their first responsibility.
  4. Rumour also has it that SA's were held in PE to ensure the Elites and more inland cyclists are in PE to compete in the EP Herald, allowing the organisers to get more sponsorship for the event. Interestingly enough, the same ppl that organised the EP Herald are also part of the decision makers at CSA. So was safety considered, or was it for money and political reasons?
  5. Stevo There is a difference between highlighting and threatening. Just remember one thing: that person out there is a human being on a bicycle, who is most probably on his way home to a wife and kids. Would you like to tell his 5 year old daughter that her daddy is not there anymore cause you would rather try and squeeze by, in stead of braking and being delayed for 10 seconds? Why do you think cyclist react like this? No-one else is looking out for us, but us. Just go on here and rather be polite and then see what happens. Discuss (or highlight) the issue. Don't describe how we will be used as traction. What fully grown man will go out and resolve an issue by telling other ppl how he will put their lives in danger, just to prove a point? Or are we all going back to the dark ages where human live had no value ... respect did not exist ... and tolerance, well, you get the picture.
  6. Stevo Cycling is quite hard work .. you should try it some time.
  7. Frustration is presented in different ways ...
  8. You might also feel this way if you've been hit by a car, in the yellow lane, due to the cars in the road traveling to slow according to this driver, so he decided to overtake on the yellow lane, instead os using the 2 lanes available to him. And just because i'm a rookie on the hub, doesn't mean i'm new at cycling. Just do yourself a favour and look how motorists treat other motorists. so what chance do we have as cyclists? we do not sit inside a piece of metal with side impact bars etc ... the only protection we have is our skin.
  9. This is actually quite interesting. In the first picture, the guys are INSIDE the yellow line. Did you know that this is actually illegal according to traffic law??? Bicycles are seen as legal road-going vehicles, and MUST ride within the same demarcated area as all other road-going vehicles i.e. ON THE INSIDE OF THE ROAD. The law also further states that no vehicle is allowed to pass within 1.5 m of another when overtaking. So by cycling INSIDE the yellow lane, we are actually breaking the law, to accommodate the motorists. And any motorist that overtakes a bicycle and tries to impress their occupants with their driving skills by showing how close they can get, are also breaking the law. So Mr Big H camera fundi: who is actually in the wrong here, and who is the selfish idiot?
  10. There are currently a lot of issues regarding cyclist safety etc. So at the MTN Crit, the person driving the Mercedes in front of the elite girls, nearly took out some of the spectators just in front of the finish line. He aimed the vehicle directly at the spectators and started screaming at them. If they did not want the spectators there, then block off the area. BUT I HAVE TO SAY: what a way to set an example as a cycling marshall regarding the safety of spectators and cyclist when driving a car. Nice going Marshall.
