  1. I'm sure that counts, as long at you're doing enough mileage on your in door trainer.
  2. What's your Eddington number for cycling? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur_Eddington "Eddington is credited with devising a measure of a cyclist's long distance riding achievements. The Eddington Number in this context is defined as E, the number of days a cyclist has cycled more than E miles.[7][8] For example an Eddington Number of 70 would imply that a cyclist has cycled more than 70 miles in a day on 70 occasions. Achieving a high Eddington number is difficult since moving from, say, 70 to 75 will probably require more than five new long distance rides since any rides shorter than 75 miles will no longer be included in the reckoning. The construct of the Eddington Number for cycling is identical to the h-index that quantifies both the actual scientific productivity and the apparent scientific impact of a scientist." My Eddington number is probably about 50. So on 50 occasions I have cycled more than 50 miles. Unfortunately the Eddington number is in miles not kilometers. Bummer! But just convert to miles. Tell us what your Eddington number is...
  3. If you guys had had the opportunity to see it in London, you would understand how important an event like this is - for people's confidence about their own bodies, and the importance of using bike as a means of transport instead of motorized vehicles. The naked thing is very necessary to create publicity. There are not many other ways to attract that much attention. And believe me, if you're perving you will be seriously embarrassed when 200 naked people ride past and see you perving - you can identify a perv from miles away. Naked Bike Ride events in a number of other large cities around the world has proven to be incredibly successful. So there's no reason why it can't be as successful here; however citizens of Cape Town do tend to be a bit more closed to radical ideas, and a bit embarrassed too! P.S. Remember complete nudity isn't expected of participants at all
  4. So who do you guys reckon are the strongest riders in the PPA league? In my opinion it's the youngster Edward Greene (recently got signed to Rob Quinn's RSA web team). He's an all-rounder - brutal on the climbs and has power and stamina on the flats. Unbelievably driven as well!
  5. Now they just need to prove Lance guilty. It's absurd how so many people flame Contador more about doping, based on his personality. Irrational and absurd.
  6. @Cannas: what do you think about the S-works frame? Is it not of the same standard at the other components? Think carbon would be a wiser choice? Would be significantly more expensive though...
  7. You guys arn't serious are you? I'm getting it for 30K new... and I was told it was brought down from 45K..

  12. I live in Rondebosch, and my family has a holiday house in Hermanus. I'd like to ride there for some distance training when we go for weekends. Ultimately i'd join onto the coastal road - does anyone know of a good route from Rondebosch without cycling on the N2?
  13. Thanks 20niner. I'll attempt riding with the maniacs.
  14. I'm going to be in Hermanus from around the 15 Dec - 15 Jan. Does anyone know of any group rides that take place at this time? I'd love to put in some long hours for base training, and doing it alone would be painstakingly boring! Skoffels2009-12-09 03:41:38
