  9. The tech zones at the Absa Cape Epic are scenes of great drama: shredded tyres, broken rims, snapped spokes, damaged derailleurs and more have been replaced or fixed at these points. Many a rider has been saved from an unfortunate DNF by the helping hands of the mechanics at the tech zones, where they stock spare parts and generally help riders. The 36 children who attend the Anna Foundation after-school on Buffet Olives farm in Paarl, built the bike track under the expert guidance of Eckhardt Kühn, activities manager at neighbouring farm, Cascade Country Manor. Among guests present at the launch were marathon and off-road stage race specialist, Adriaan Louw, current Junior SA DHI Champ, Coenie Slabbert, and staff from the Absa Cape Epic of for which the Anna Foundation is one of the Official Charities.   24. Darren Lill and Waylon Woolcock put in a huge effort to win the African Jersey at the 2016 Absa Cape Epic.   25. This weekend, several Absa Pride Riders who took part in the 2016 Absa Cape Epic committed their support to young Diepsloot Mountain Bike Academy (DMA) members. As part of Absa’s ongoing support for the DMA, the Absa Pride Riders donated much needed cycling gear and committed to taking the young riders under their wing through a mentorship programme aligned to the bank’s ReadytoWork initiative.
