  5. The tech zones at the Absa Cape Epic are scenes of great drama: shredded tyres, broken rims, snapped spokes, damaged derailleurs and more have been replaced or fixed at these points. Many a rider has been saved from an unfortunate DNF by the helping hands of the mechanics at the tech zones, where they stock spare parts and generally help riders.   6. Scott have announced an all-new Spark platform which will support three different bikes, Spark RC, Spark and Spark Plus. The Spark is a completely new bike and you don't need to look further than the suspension design to see that. The old top link design has being replaced with a spanking new single-pivot rocker link system. Scott have been aggressive with their implementation of new technologies on the Spark: boasting cutting edge carbon construction techniques, bringing the geometry up-to-date, the use of new standards like Boost and metric shocks, and even adapting the brake mounts for more flexible stays.   7. Nino Schurter of SCOTT-Odlo MTB Racing has extended his contract ahead of schedule for another four years until 2020. The 29 year old MTB Cross-Country World Champion, together with Team Manager Thomas Frischknecht, have committed to racing under the SCOTT umbrella and to leading a strong team of young riders to the top.
