  2. Three-time Absa Cape Epic winner Stefan Sahm has turned media crew member for 2016. But unlike the rest of us, he (sort of) gets to ride his mountain bike with the leading pack. Stefan is part of the collaboration between Bulls Bikes and 3sixtv bringing us footage from the trails of the Absa Cape Epic in 360 degrees. To help him zoom between the pros during the race, while carrying six GoPros above his head, Stefan is using a custom Bulls E-Stream EVO FS 3 29 e-bike. Click here to view the article

  4. Stage 6 is the shortest of the 2016 Absa Cape Epic and is bound to be targeted by cross country specialists. Between the start and finish at the Boschendal Wine Estate, Stellenbosch riders will traverse 69km of the local countryside, gaining an accumulated 2 100m of altitude in that time. 5. After 13 years working behind the scenes Kevin Vermaak has finally decided to experience the race he founded from a unique angle; his saddle. Team “Finally”, Vermaak and riding partner Cedric ”Jakes” Jakobsen, a downhiller with six Cape Epics to his credit, completed Stage 5 of the tough race on Friday – and it’s now just a (bunny)hop, skip and jump to the finish at Meerendal no Sunday. 6. The Queen Stage of the 2016 Absa Cape Epic challenged the Investec songo Specialized pairing of Sipho Madolo and Christoph Sauser along with their rivals in the world’s toughest stage race to an arduous 93km journey, including a mammoth 2 500 meters of climbing, today. It took Madolo and Sauser just 4 hours 42 minutes and 35 seconds to complete the stage, a time which secured them 29th position on the day. Click here to view the article
  7. All through the week at the 2016 Absa Cape Epic Darren Lill and Waylon Woolcock (USN Purefit) have been measured and composed on their bikes. 11. The Specialized Epic is quite likely the defacto bike of choice at the Absa Cape Epic. We've seen countless examples of Specialized's cross-country racer this year, but this particular bike is quite special. Christoph Sauser's Epic S-Works is decked out in a custom Investec Songo Specialized paint strip. Something about the Investec zebra black, white and silver all fits quite nicely. And somewhat ironically, even in retirement Sauser still dons a zebra jersey, albeit of a different sort to that of his Epics past. Click here to view the article

  13. Stage 4 of the 2016 Absa Cape Epic was a good day for Sipho Madolo and Christoph Sauser. Madolo despite not being completely over his stomach bug put the hammer down making up for lost time on trails which suited his riding style. Click here to view the article
  14. Tomorrow’s Stage 5 is 2016’s second transition stage – taking riders to a new race village in a different town – and the Absa Cape Epic participants will be hoping it is not as tough as Wednesday’s Stage 3 from Tulbagh to Wellington. Click here to view the article

  17. Alban “The Albanator” Lakata cut a lonely figure as he completed Stage 4 of the Absa Cape Epic on Thursday – yet another quest to win a coveted Epic title doomed. His Topeak Ergon Racing teammate, the Czech Republic’s Kristian Hynek, crashed about 5km before the finish of Wednesday’s stage. Hynek started the stage on Thursday but pulled out before the first water point, leaving Lakata to continue on his own – leaving him to start as as Outcast on Stage 5 tomorrow, the status given to an elite rider whose partner has withdrawn.
