  1. So, it seems that the Tour of Stellenbosch has been moved to the 27th of Jan 2019. Wonder if some of the factors that we mentioned in our article gave rise to this? Going to be nice not to have fried legs from DC, but will have Xmas cake on the hips!! Link to article about Die Burger: http://puresavage.co.za/2017/10/road-cycling-in-the-western-cape.html/
  2. Was wondering what the actual state of road cycling was in the Western Cape, compared to the past. There has been many a topic around it on the hub in the past but no actual data, so this weekend did some data mining and found some pretty interesting stuff. http://puresavage.co.za/2017/10/road-cycling-in-the-western-cape.html/ Long and short, road riding getting old, fast. Let us know what you think can be done and if there are any other issues we missed?
  3. In muddy, misty, cold and windy conditions HB Kruger produced some red-hot form to win his first ever Die Burger Mountain Bike Challenge over 75km in Stellenbosch. Click here to view the article
  4. A chilly winter morning turned into a warm and sunny day for the 10th annual Die Burger MTB Challenge on Sunday 2 August. With more than 4600 entries, Stellenbosch was buzzing with mountain bikers. There were six distances to choose from and ages of entrants varied from 5 years to 74 years! 5. A woman participating in the 50km event was confronted by a man wielding a knife who, after threatening her, stole her bike. As organisers we are all very grateful that she was not injured. Click here to view the article
  6. Die Burger MTB Challenge will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year in Stellenbosch and will once again have more than 4500 riders taking part. The event will take place on Sunday 2 August and start from Eikestad Primary School, but will finish at the Van Der Stel Sportsgrounds. Click here to view the article

  8. Being new to mtb I did my first race/ fun ride last month (Die Burger Challenge 30km). I had an abosolute ball and thoroughly enjoyed it. Having got back from holiday last week I remembered that it was possible to get pics of yourself from the ride and I guess being a newbie it sounded like a cool idea and yes it is great to have pics of myself from my first "race", however the pics are a tad disappointing in so far as a pic of someone riding along a flat jeep track doesn't really make for a good shot. The pics posted by amateurs here on the hub are invariably more exciting. Surely it would made more sense to put the photographers at the river crossing and the various mudbaths along the way to inject a bit of life and excitement into the pics. Looking at pics of family and friends their pics are also all taken from the same locations so I don't think it's a question that I was unlucky not to have got better pics. Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?
