  1. Evening. Anyone racing the 2021 joburg classic this Saturday. Looking for a gpx file for the route if anyone has created. Pls hmu. The route seems to have changed from last year btw. Thanks.
  2. Hi all, For those who have a bit more experience with these orange chips, is it recommended to secure these to the bike or alternatively to the ankle? For the Fast One this weekend, I had mine strapped around my right ankle, but it never registered a finish time for me. Now Strava//Garmin files have to be sent back and forth to prove my race completion. Techie from Racetec claims that if my leg was TDC (top dead center), some interference is created and my time would not have registered. Thanks.
  3. Just wondering the general feeling on Racetec accuracy? I never thought to question it by my wife did the Argus for the first time this year and I rode with her. We started in the same group and rode over the finish holding hands for the photo. Racetec have us 29 seconds apart. On this one I really don't care but it makes you wonder. If you are seriously racing then a 29 second error factor is massive.
  4. I was looking at road events and times on Racetec and found a few suspicious entries. I find it a little strange that some of these girls can ride one race like an amateur and the next like a pro. Have a look at these screen shots: Am I missing something?
  5. My father has completed a total of 12 Cape Argus Cycle tours. This year however, he sadly did not make the 7 hour cut-off time. Not unsurprising considering he'd just his second knee replacement a few months prior to the race and decided to take it "slow", despite the titanium improvements. The problem is that the Cape Argus have still not released his results??? Upon querying this with the event organisers, their response was: "The rules for this event clearly state that each participant has 7 hours to complete the event in order to receive an official result" Which seems rather ludicrous considering they also call it "The World's Largest Timed Cycle Race". Understandably rules are rules but to not even acknowledge his race time seems a little unfair? It's now the 22nd of May and the last we've heard from the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust is the following: "They are having an on-going discussion and I will inform you of their decision" and so I thought I should post this here before it gets lost in the obscure bureaucratic process which this lovely cycle race seems to have become.
