  1. When Renault SA asked me to take the Triber on a micro-adventure up North, there was only one place I was headed. Mpumalanga, and the little town of Sabie. Now the area is obviously most known for MTB and Trail Running but I wanted to head back to this area that I had visited so […] View full article
  2. South African marathon champion, Max Knox (New Holland/This Way Out) secured a dominant victory over a strong field at the inaugural two-day format race of the Ashburton Investments National MTB Series in Sabie at the weekend. Click here to view the article
  3. If I wanted to take 6 days and explore from Graskop, Pilgrims Rest, Gods Window, Bourkes Luck, Mac Mac, Lisbon Falls, Blyde River Canyon etc...and maybe further north to Haenertsburg or Misty Mountain, how many of these can one actually ride to? Tar? Gravel? If one had vehicle transfers and included some riding each day (30km - 60km) - where would the best riding/routes be, not in terms of trails and single track, but more in terms of scenery and exploring the most scenic and interesting parts by bike, preferably on gravel roads and jeep track - or quiet tar roads I guess. Any locals? Thanks
  4. Is it just me or is anyone else wondering why there's very little info or chat on here regarding the Ashburton Series #2 which is to be held at Sabie the 20-21 Feb 2016? I have entered the marathon and look forward to returning to the mountains of Sabie after too long. After reading about all the issues and complaints at Meerendal, I certainly hope next weekend will run a little smoother for Advendurance.
  5. Switzerland’s Urs Huber and South Africa’s Robyn de Groot were the mountain biking king and queen of Sabie after winning the men and women’s titles respectively at Round 2 of the Ashburton Investments National MTB Series at the weekend. Click here to view the article
  6. Angry service-delivery protests in the town of Sabie almost forced the postponement of Round 2 of the Ashburton Investments South African National MTB Series in the Mpumalanga province this weekend. But while peace has been restored in the local community, there’s likely to be little in the way of peace on the race route as some of the biggest names in marathon mountain biking will line up for battle at one of South Africa’s oldest and most iconic mountain bike events. 7. The violent protests that are raging in Sabie have put the Sabie Ashburton Investments National MTB Series, one of South Africa’s most established classics on the mountain biking circuit in jeopardy. The event that is due to take place this weekend attracted some of the big stars in international and local mountain biking is now faced with the reality that it will potentially be forced to cancel and postpone the event to a suitable date in the future. I will be taking my 6yr old nephew on rides so if there's a trail centre in the area that'll fit the bill. Thanks in advance.
