  1. The 8th stage of the Vuelta a Espana saw the wind wreak havoc on the peloton as the race split into pieces over the final 30km’s. Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ.fr) would come out on top after winning the sprint from a select group. Michael Matthews (Orica GreenEdge) was 2nd and Peter Sagan (Cannondale) 3rd.   2. The 7th stage of the Vuelta a Espana would turn out to be the toughest of the tour so far and also the most eventful for Team MTN-Qhubeka. Sergio Pardilla and Kristian Sbaragli both hit the deck early on in the stage but both riders were able to continue, thankfully.   4. This past weekend saw the second Mzansi Tour wrap up with local and international teams battling head-to-head.   8. Before winning the GP of Zurich last August, the Namibian Raul Costa had been discovered by the World Cycling Centre (WCC) during a training camp at its South African base. This sort of camp, open to numerous African countries, had already led to other discoveries, such as Tanzania’s Richard Laizer, now a member of the reserve team attached to Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung.   9. The 2nd stage of the Vuelta a Espana saw a bunch sprint decide the outcome in San Fernando with Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ.fr) claiming the first road stage victory. The tough and technical finish saw John Degenkolb (Giant-Shimano) cross the line in 2nd with Roberto Ferrari (Lampre-Merida) taking the final podium spot.   10. The start of Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung's first ever grand tour could not have gone any better. While Movistar came home fastest to win the stage and Cannondale and Orica-Greenedge were 2nd and 3rd respectively, Team MTN-Qhubeka blitzed home just 29 seconds down in 12th position.   11. The time has come and Team MTN-Qhubeka have arrived at the biggest stage in world cycling. Africa’s first ever cycling team to participate in a grand tour was presented at La Vuelta a Espana team presentation this evening in Jerez, Spain. Starting with a team trial tomorrow evening, Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung will have its 6 African and 3 European riders make history as they embark on a 23 day journey that will give birth to so many new dreams in the minds of young African’s everywhere.   13. The 13th stage of La Vuelta a Espana turned out to be a really good one for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung. Jay Thomson made sure our African team were represented in the strong 11 rider breakaway and then when it ll came back together just before the finish, we managed to place 5 riders in the top 50 positions.   14. Tomorrow Africa’s team start their first ever grand tour, La Vuelta a Espana. Boundaries are being broken with an unprecedented 6 grand tour debutantes starting the La Vuelta .   15. The 15th stage of La Vuelta a Espana would prove to be an arduous day with the race finishing on the out of category Covadonga climb. The stage winner would be Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre-Merida) after being the sole survivor from the days 5 man break. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) was 2nd and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) was 3rd as they crossed the line just 5″ down, with race leader Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) in 4th.   16. Fabio Aru (Astana) just pipped Chris Froome to the line to win the 18th stage of the Vuelta a Espana. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) led the famous Spanish trio (Rodriguez,Contador) home some 13″ later in 3rd place. Our Spaniard, Sergio Pardilla did a great ride to finish the stage in 11th position while our South African climber, Jacques Janse van Rensburg did superbly to finish 20th even after playing a support role to Pardilla.   17. Fabio Aru (Astana) rode to victory on the 11th stage of La Vuelta a Espana. The young Italian arrived 6 seconds before the GC favourites group where Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) crossed the line 2nd and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) was 3rd. Even though the stage finished at the summit of the San Miguel de Aralar, there was very little change to the GC. Click here to view the article
  18. The 12th stage of La Vuelta a Espana was a 8 lap circuit race around Logrono that John Degenkolb (Giant-Shimano) won quite easily in the end. There was a big crash just before the kilometer to go sign that held up 90% of the peloton, including all the MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung riders. Tom Boonen (Omega Pharma Quickstep) was 2nd on the stage and Jacopo Guarnieri (Astana) was 3rd. Click here to view the article
  19. Tyler Farrar has joined Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung for the 2015 cycling season. The American sprinter has spent his last 7 years with the current World Tour outfit, Garmin Sharp. Farrar is also part of a select group of riders in world cycling that has won a stage in each of the 3 grand tours. Farrar brings a tremendous amount of experience with him to Team MTN-Qhubeka as well as some pure speed and power that will fit directly into the team’s plans and goals for the 2015 cycling season.   20. The 4th stage of the Vuelta a Espana was another where temperatures soared above the 40°C mark. John Degenkolb (Giant-Shimano) would be one of the only sprinters to get over the final cat 2 climb situated just 26km’s from the finish and so, the German won the stage from the small bunch sprint by a country mile. Vicente Reyens (IAM Cycling) was 2nd and Michael Matthews (Orica-Greenedge) was 3rd. Click here to view the article
  21. It was another scorching hot day here in Spain as tempratures hit 40°C during the 3rd Vuelta a Espana stage. Michael Matthews (Orica Greenedge) would reign supreme on the tough final 2km climb to the line. The Aussie out sprinted Dan Martin (Garmin Sharp) and Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) for the win.   22. The first mountain top stage at the Vuelta a Espana showed which GC favourites are up for the challenge over the coming weeks and who are not. Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) won the stage a top the cat 1 climb to La Zubia, looking much stronger than his team mate Nairo Quintana. Chris Froome (Team Sky) and Alberto Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo) could not be faulted as they both finished in the same time as Valverde, in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Click here to view the article

The 5th stage of the Vuelta a Espana proved to be the best yet for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung as Kristian Sbaragli sprinted his way into 9th position on the stage while Sergio Pardilla attacked on the final cat 3 climb, to gain the points needed to take the lead in the combination classification. The combination classification takes into account a riders position in the GC, Points and KOM competitions and then awards the rider who is best placed with the white jersey.   25. 20 year old Merhawi Kudus climbed to second place on the queen stage of this year’s Le Tour de Langkawi, on Sunday 2 March. The achievement by the Eritrean rider also ensured he moves up to second on the overall standing, trailing stage winner and race leader Mirsamd Pourseyedigolakhour (Tabriz Petrochemical Cycling Team) by 8 seconds.
