  1. Hi Bought a used road bike through the classifieds here on the hub from a guy in jhb that I need shipped to durban. My mate in jhb has collected the bike already so I just need him to get it somewhere to be boxed so I can get a courier to collect. Any recommendations on where to have it boxed (sandton/ bryanston area) and which courier to use? Thanks
  2. Hey guys! ????‍♂️???? I’m new on here and I need your advice. I am currently doing a 3 months internship in Cape Town (staying here until the end of Nov) and I bought myself an SE Lager singlespeed bike. I really like the bike and would love to take it home to Germany with me. Unfortunately, I can’t take it with me on the airplane because I am already exceeding my baggage weight allowance and paying overweight for the bike is not an option. Can you recommend me a shipping company that would ship the bike for me via seaways from Cape Town to Germany? Cheers, Lasse
  3. Hello everyone, I bought 2 Quadricycles (four wheel Bike) from Jeffrey's Bay and am looking for a firm, company or individual that can collect them and ship to me here in Kempton Park at a fair price. Is there anyone who can help. Most Courier companies prefer them boxed but they are bulky. I think a roll on roll off option might be the best? The two cycles are curently by the seller in Jeffery's Bay in the Eastern Cape. I am trying to make it as little hassel as possible for the (Private) seller... Has anyone had a Quadricycle moved across South Africa recently, please give me referrals. The seats, wind deflectors, but only three 3 wheels of each are practically detachable. Bellow are photos of the Quadricycles in need of moving. Thanks for reading Dominic
  4. Hi I recently bought a few things from evans cycles. There was a promotion where you get the cheapest item free. Evans cycles then sent all my items separate due to the items being at separate warehouses. The free item has now been sent. The value of the item is under R1400, and due to it being a gift ( I did not pay for it) I would think they cannot charge duties on it. I did try to explain the situation to dhl, but to try and get hold of them is difficult. Is there anyone with experience in this subject who can give advice? Thank you
  5. Hi all, not sure if theres been a forum before regarding this issue, but im looking to purchase a Canyon Aeroad directly from Canyons warehouse in Holland, can anyone help out with how the shipping works from them, and what all the fees are? If i had to buy the frame and get it sent to a friend in Germany and have them send it to me without the slip and tags inside would i still have to pay all the fees. Ive also heard that you can send it with an airline rather than sending it through a courier company? Any help will be much appreciated.
  6. Aramex Global Shopper is an international shipping service that allows you to shop from countries and online stores that would normally not ship to South Africa or where the online retailers shipping charges are prohibitive. They will then deliver your parcel to your doorstep and take care of customs in the process. That means more online shopping options, hassle-free. Click here to view the article
  7. So I will be going to Europe, more particularly to Belgium and some of the surrounding areas and I got a brain wave. I would like to benefit from the 2 x 35kg baggage allowance I have with Emirates and perhaps have some more funds for travelling. So, if you are looking to import some stuff, can be bike related or whatever, then I am willing to go pick it up at a shop or have it sent to an address in Belgium where I will be staying, for a fee..and I will then bring it back to South Africa (Cape Town) on the 1st of August. * Attached are some ideas. Remember that you can also perhaps get a tax return on some items (21%) * *FYI: http://www.sars.gov.za/ClientSegments/Customs-Excise/Processing/Assessment/Pages/Duties.aspx
  8. Hi I have been selling on the hub for a few years now. Whenever I sell something, it's either collected/delivered or small enough to send via Postnet R99 or Speed Services, Aramex etc. I am currently selling a set of wheels and have an interested buyer. I sourced a wheel box from my LBS and went and got quotes from the usual suspects. Cheapest I could find was R685, almost half what I am asking for the wheels. Question here is who do you use for local larger packages? I have searched the forums and nothing pops up, so sorry if this has been covered before.
  9. Purchasing on the hub quite often, it becomes a problem shipping things, especially with the recent postal strike last year. I just want to know what shipping method you guys use, and how much it costs. It's a pain having to try all the different companies, and then finding them all exceeding their quotes or doing something else funny. Any help or comment would be appreciated
  10. Hi, I'm about to buy a bike from the classifieds section, and would need to get it sent from Johannesburg, to Kenton on Sea. Any reasonable, reliable freight companies that you could suggest? Thanks tim
  11. Hi I am new, hope this is the right place to post. I have a package in USA (garmin 310XT watch), and was wondering if anyone knows someone coming back shortly? then I can save alot of $ on shipping. Thanks for your patience
  12. Has anyone got experience with sending small items internationally without it costing a fortune? I had an idea that if I sent a small item (approx. 250grams in packaging) overseas it should cost a few hundred Rand. I have been getting quotes of up to R1200 which is insane! Can anyone recommend a cheaper alternative? Preferably not one that takes 6 weeks.
  13. Hi Guys Not sure if this has been discussed before, couldn't find a similar topic despite searching. Anyway this is sort of a rant, not at any bike shop in particular, but more with the system I guess or the CPA. So I bought a KS dropper post and now it's defective, so it's within warranty and I want to return it for repair/replacement etc. Now apparently I have to pay the courier cost to return it to the online shop/supplier. This doesn't really seem fair to me, they should pay for it since it is a defect and in essence the problem has been caused by them. (But I did read online that apparently according to the CPA and ECT act that it is my responsibility to pay for the return). I dunno if anyone has any experience with this or 2c to share on this matter. Cheers Nick
