  1. I know we FullSus mad, and this isn't even offered in SA. If it was offered, any takers? Apparently they wouldn't import it because there would be no backup parts for it... https://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/a30729284/specialized-epic-hardail-pro-review/ https://www.specialized.com/us/en/epic-hardtail-pro/p/184101?color=291523-184101&searchText=91321-1002
  2. Hi Anyone have have n older Specialized Brain (REAR) shock, from 2004/2005/2006 model year, it fits the M5 frame, wanted to buy, can be 'blown/damaged' since I will use it for a project bike... Pic below show the actual frame, as well as the shock set up... thanks Chris BikePedia - Brain rear shock.html
  3. Hi Guys Before posting a for sale ad, keen on some technical info - if there is indeed ANY market for a nice set of Shimano XT STI Dual Control combo - (brake and gear lever combo), off of an older SPEZ S-Works Epic? they would work with cantilever brakes, and both my Spez frames have got the brazed on 'BOSS' for cantilever brakes, but I am now running hydraulic disks set up.... Anyone advise me? Are there guys who rebuild/restore period-correct, pre-Disk MTB's? Cheers Chris
  4. Seeing as there are no Maxxis DHR II or Agressor tyres in 29er 2.3" in the country I'm looking for feedback on the following two tyres as a rear tyre on an enduro/trail bike! I'm also open to other recommendations! Most of my riding is done on dry hard pack, rock gardens, loose rocks and roots. Predominantly in Tokai as well as Hoogekraal, Contermanskloof, Jonkershoek etc. Grip is important but I still want the tyre to roll fast! I'm currently running a DHF upfront! I was looking at the Specialized Eliminator 29x2.3" with a grid trail casing and T7 rubber compound as well as the Schwalbe Hanz Dampf 29x2.35" in a super trail/super gravity casing and the addix soft rubber compound! Would love to hear your experiences and feedback with these tyres?
  5. So I was cruising through sea point this morning, hit a bump and thought a riding mate let one rip. Only then realised my seat was a little wobbly. Snapped above the clamp, had carbon paste on shaft, torqued to correct torque. There is an inherent problem with the seat post as the lacquer chips off and then becomes too skinny and then slides down the whole time, in the process rubbing away some carbon. Seat post has done 25 000km.
  6. Hi, I just moved into SA recently and despite doing road biking for the last 2Y, now I find myself more tempted to move to MTB (The roads here seem a bit dangerous better to go on weekends to some trails) To give you some context... I ride just because I enjoy and it's a way to keep fit, I have no plans to compete, still like to beat myself and the adrenalin of speed, but the reality is that I am a very basic rider and will be looking for XC mainly. I'm planning to sell my Trek Emonda S5 (2015), and buy a full suspension MTB (read many posts on the forum and my mind is made), my budget is around R30000. My options: 1. Spez camber comp 29 (R34k) 2. Spez camber 29 (R26K) 3. Trek Fuel 8 (R???) 4. Merida ninety six 9.600, 9.800 or even the XT (R45.000 in cyclelab) 5. Spez Epic Comp 29 (R40K) Btw, I am 1,85m tall and the guys in a store were trying to sell me a Spez camber comp carbon XL , the info I found is that I should be looking for an L size, can you guys confirm it? I also need to consider the option of the 2nd value, in case I want to sell it in a few years time. Really appreciate your opinions! Thanks
  7. Looks like Spez getting all aero with what could be the new version of the Venge. Cav' has been riding it at the Tour de Suisse (not that it's helped him to any wins there). Full article at Cycling News http://cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2015/06/17/2/1434576042635_1w6pgv2ws2enl_700_80_670.jpg
