  1. Hi all, On the weekend I joined by father in-law on some MTB on some of the wannabe MTB routes in the helderberg. I am roadie and only had an old Trek 800 lying around in the family shed. I washed it off, bent the rear hanger straighter, changed some Tubes, but on some knobblies which are as old as I am and tried adjusting the gears and headed out. Long story short, had a blast with father in-law and enjoyed the Trek. I plan to leave the bike at his place and just go out for rides with him when we visit. Not planning on any races, more a social thing. Now, some questions on this Trek 800. It has V brakes, no shocks, 3x7 of which 2x4 work and it has tubes. Would it be worth spending any money on the Trek or should I look for a newer MTB. I am not fussed about suspension, not really bothered about 29er etc, not that fussed about disc brakes or gears. Dont really want to spend any money that could be spent on road bike stuff I want a bike that dont have to worry about punctures (I would like to convert to tubeless, due to punctures,is it possible on these old school rims.) and can get it set up right for me, with the fixed stem of trek this may be hard. Any suggestions?
