Take into account what riding you going to be doing. If you want speed then the scott is the one to keep but if you want a very strong frame with amazing back suspension and being able to ride over things instead of around them then the anthem.

Also I don't think the anthem has lock out? That lockout system on the scott's are way cool! Personally I would probable keep the scott although for my recreational riding the Gaint would probable suit me better.

That scott is a machine man!

Change to Giant 29er  now or in 3 months or 6months does not matter so save money and do it now, you know you will eventually.

What is scott warranty? At some stage yr carbon frame IS going to break. I will never own a carbon frame again. Have 26 HT and ST, and 29 HT. V difficult to compare apples with apples, but my pref is for 29. Did epic this year on Niner 29HT and 2010 on 26ST - faster this year, but stronger partner, stronger myself - one thing that stood out was unable to rest downhills - you're standing on HT, so ST might be a better choice for epic. You need to ride the 29. Are both bikes sized the same/correctly? Tyres? Fork and shock setups? Even if you have ridden both, a minor change (to stem height/length, bars, tyres, pressures, rebounds, etc etc) can affect ride. Ask me again in a years time, I may change my mind.

My perfect garage of bikes are as follows:

26" merida 96 . check

26" HT SS . Check

Road bike .check

29" HT . still to tick off.

I bike for every ride , course , event from xc fast laps to marathons , so the point of this is each bike will have its place , keep the scott and get another bike to add to the team at home.

Like shoes:

Track Running shoes to go fast and short.

Cross country running shoes for the veld

Hiking boots for days on end

And slops for cruizing the beaches.

:D my view on bikes , use it dont use it. but they all have their place.

No contest. Keep the Scott - awesome machine and perfect for racing.

Take the 29er if you want to ride at the back of the bunch but have a smoother ride with your mom by your side :P
