Can you use a Shimano XT M780-E Tripple Front Derailure without the BB Plate to fit on a SRAM X7 S3 DMD mount 10x3 Front Derailure? I cannot find the tech info on the bolt spacing and angles for shimano only have the sheet from SRAM. Any body shed some light on this?

Thanks

On my Epic Marathon '09 I've used a Shimano XTR-FD970-E without back plate as an DMD derailleur. And used the backplate of it to change a XT-FD770-DMD into an E-type.

Do not know it for sure, but I would say the boult spacing is the same, as my bike can also be fitted with SRAM DMD derailleur.

You can take the E-type bracket off and use it as a directmount but not sure if it will work in your case to then bolts onto the bike.

Maybe have a look on the shimano site under technical docs there are exploded diagrams for the derialleurs.

OK so fitted a new Shimano XT M770-10E FD without the bracket and I can confirm that the bolt spacing is the same as the SRAM. X7 FD however does not allow any adjustment while XT FD allows you to adjust between 44 and 42 size chainrings.....
