6speedSchwinn Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 I replaced my shifter cables this week and my RM6.0 now feels like a brand new bike. In fact, if feels lighter and faster too So I started wondering: how often should disk brakes be bled and rotors be replaced? I bought my Raleigh last year November and I have now done 5430km on it. I haven't serviced the brakes at all except for replacing the pads once at 2500km.And while we are at it: how often should the cleats on my cycling shoes be replaced?
AndreZA Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Only replace stuff when they are worn. I doubt you ever need to bleed the brakes if there are no problems with them. I hope you replaced your shifter cables with XTR ones. They sure do make it feel like you've got a new bike.
RockCoach Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 Do the pads really last that long? I have an Avalanche Pro with LX disk brakes and thought I'd be replacing pads pretty soon. I've done about 500kms. So what kind of mileage does everyone else get out of their disks?

My Avid ones have over 1200km on and still got plenty of pad left.

Just did not want to take a chance in the race. The new set now has 3000km on and are still fine.I have Avid Juicy 5 disks brakes.
