igknot Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 On our way down to the Eastern Cape we stayed at a B&B in Smithfield. One of the owners; Gus is a rider. He is very eager to take anyone into the hills surrounding Smithfield. He cornered me as we drove into the parking area with the bikes on the back. 15 minutes later we were on single tracks. Nice technical climbs. Fast flowing down hills. This was one of the most enjoyable spur of the moment rides I have done. The best way to get 7 hours of holiday traffic out of the legs. Our return journey was adapted to stop over in Smithfield again, this time we experienced a wet Karoo ride.
