I am relatively new to cycling and would like to know what specs I must look for when buying a reliable road bike to do Triathlons.

Also, what should I pay for a good 2nd hand road bike.

Many thanks

Hi Bill. Im not into triathlons but maybe I can helP with buying the right size bike first. f you gonna buy 2nd hand first get yourself measured to find your right frame size. http://m.competitivecyclist.com/fit-calculator/. Then decide on a budget and if you are going to just be riding tri or you going to do a little bit of road as well. This will help you decide if you going to buy a full tri- bike or a road bike with some clip on TT bars. There are quite a number of hubbers here that are big into tri. As far as parts on your bike go I would try not to buy lower than Ultegra spec or minimum 105 for reliability. Then consider some good training wheels and later a good pair of deep sections for races. Consider your budget to include your equipment as well like a TT helmet, your shoes, etc. good luck hope the little I have posted helps.
