I bought a used Powertap SL online (from the hub) in a very good condition - I did not see it before I bought it as the seller was situated in KZN. According to the seller the PT was about 4 months old. Recieved it a week later and it worked just fine. A month and a half later I needed to frequently do a zero calibration, and a week or so after that it gave me very low readings.

I did the "stomp" test and it confirmed I had about a 50% error.

And here comes the the good part - I got hold of the distributers in SA ( bicyclepower.co.za ) and spoke to a Micheal. He asked a few questions and checked the serial number which confirmed the tap was less than a year old.

He then asked me if I could get it to him. The next day I drove to Sandton and personally delivered the tap ( as I needed it back asap ). Micheal and the other guy I met there was very friendly and started their own checks straight away. Long story short - I was in and out of their "shop" within 20 minutes. The internals was replaced ( torque tube ) with no hassle at all.

I will recommend anybody thinking of going the powertap route to do so with no doubt. - just make sure its still under warranty and if not make sure you get it for a good price! This would have set me back R.3800.00.

Micheal and the guys from bicyclepower - this is the best service ive ever experienced! Thank you and keep up the great service.

Youve made me a customer for life!

Their prices on new PTs are also comparable to normal prices from CRC etc.
