Did the marathon at Sabie today and got a MF of a technical at the 3km mark. Almost everyone riding past asked if I needed assistance.

We all suffered right through the course, but still joked till the end.

I didn't see any papers, bombs, sachets, tubes, etc littered on the course.

As much as I love mtb myself... I thought about this yesterday during the Wellington Lions race, because I also passed a few cyclists with flats and felt rather crap for not stopping, but (1) you're going much faster than in a mtb race and probably in a bunch so there are other people's safety to consider; and (2) some of the guys seem rather irritated as a lot of passing well-meaning folk ask (shout) "are you ok?" and he/she has to answer back for the umteenth time "yes, fine, thanks". Bottom line is I think its unfair to compare the two. There are enough guys and girls who don't take things so seriously in road cycling, that are more than willing to stop and help. Same as mtb'ers. (Apologies if that isn't what you were trying to do, but being on The Hub long enough, you realise how many do actually compare the two all the time. Its just silly.)
