the Hive - Chub Hubs

A mate of mine has recently got a Tallboy, I saw him out on a ride today and after admiring his new stallion I noticed that he had a Chub front hub. This is the first time I've seen one of these, he reckons it stiffens the front wheel up big time, yet he did not run one at the back, he had a DT Swiss.

 

Now not being a 29er rider, I was wondering if there are any others that use them and have any feedback, why not use them front & back?

 

Looking at the website, they dont seem to do them as a rear hub unless its single speed or fixed speed.
