BOLAND 100 MILER ROUTE AND VENUE AMENDMENT

Please note that the organisation has had to amend the route for the upcoming Boland 100 Miler due to road works on the Wemmershoek Road between Paarl and Franschhoek. The road works were present last year, but the contractor afforded the event passage. This the contactor believes the road will not constitute a safe riding environment.

The event used this section in the final 25km before turning right towards Du Toits Kloof Pass.

The change makes a finish on top of Du Toits Kloo

Since One Tonner uses this same road for both the 105 and 170k routes, 2 weeks later, wonder if a re-route would be needed?

Nice spot. Wonder what’s the plan here now?

If they take a left after Hells, that road was in poor condition before the recent rains as well so can’t imagine how shite it is now. Perhaps they will have to cut Helschoogte out here as well. Which pretty much means a complete new route.

Last year the 105k went left at Hels (and yes, the road was... less than stellar).

Given where it sits in One Tonner they could do that, then take a right at Paarl to join up with the old route.

Dont think its much of an issue, yes not the greatest surface on that section but not unrideable - more than enough places after that to make up extra miles if needed

163 is more tempting than 170 😂

Been training for CT Marathon which is this coming weekend, leaving only 2 weeks of proper long rides before the One Tonner – could just be a training ride itself. 😜

And from the Boland 100 miler a couple.of weeks back.

I've been sitting on a rant about these things for a while. P1sses me off that we are now zip tying chunks of rubber on our bikes and buying temporary bits of plastic when we had a perfectly good system that everyone who races regularly had bought into.

Attention to detail also lacking

the paper instructions speak of 2 x cable ties for the 2 holes on the bracket, however they only have 1 cable tie and there’s also 1 hole on the board.

Yes, it’s a small thing but speaks volumes - amateur hour

What the actual f*ck was the Pedal Power ASSociation thinking with the parking situation and the start?

Arrived 25 minutes before my group start (6:15 for 6:39) and only managed to park around 6:45. Started at 6:59 at which point they were letting any and every group just go.

Pathetic.

Anyway, great ride (eventually). Smashed my 100 miler PB (angry cycling due to the start 😂).

The Cape Multisport guys were really strong. Managed to hold onto them for most of the way. Well done.

And obviously FinishTime is so *** they don't adjust the start time for when you actually started, so I'm over 10 mins slower which for a seeding event after busting your balls for 170kms is just not on.

Emailed them and PPA for what it's worth.

This photo was at 6:30 🤣 Only managed to park (in a paddock) about 15 minutes later. Got to the start at 6:55 🙈
