Midstream estates Road options

Any Midstream estates roadies out there?

I'd like to hear from you what the best options are to get onto better/safer roads around the estate.

Sure the new road down to Nelmapius is great, but I'm not keen on riding Nelmapius, even if it's only a km or two. There is barely space on that road for cars, let alone cars and a skinny wheel bike.

 

The other alternative I can think of is Old Jhb rd north to Uitsig road (Nelmapius to the west of Old Jhb.) But the speed monsters on that stretch scare me even in the car.

 

I'm keen to hear what you guys have to say.

 

PS, I know it's easy avoiding killer cars with the Mtb

Before the new road I use to do a samrand loop. Out the estate with brakfontein up to traffic light, left all the way down samrand, left at the shell garage to blue valley. straight over the climb next to blue valley for climbing repeats. Then back to the shell garage and left at traffic light. right at the next stop street into rooihuiskraal road. Then your option is to turn right at the next traffic light and back to shell garage with a left turn to samrand and back home, or continue on top uitsig.

Safest (releatively speaking) inho is out with Brakfontein, right onto Old Jhb and right at Gateway, and then over the highway and through Centurion towards where-ever or right into Nelmapius over the new bridge and left onto Olievenhoutbosch and then to where-ever. I would not travel west or south.
