Best mtb flat pedal / shoe combo ?

Hi,

 

I'm planning on riding my new 29er(probably a SB95) with flat pedals and will also need a pair of decent shoes. If I decide to do the odd event then I'll get SPD's but for normal riding and every day fun I want flat pedals. My issue is I have rather large feet(UK13).

 

So far I've narrowed it down to the 5.10 Impact Low shoe and a set of these new to be released Shimano Saint MX80's..

 

 

Any other suggestions would be grateful.

I have a set of impacts, also have the free riders both awesome grip. the impacts are a lot stiffer soles I battled feeling where my feet were on the pedals compared to the free riders but in all honesty I havent spent enough time riding the impacts, they are their premium dh flat shoe for a reason

FiveTens... brilliant choice! But if you want something a little lighter than the impacts, maybe try the Freerides or the Barrons.

 

I have Sam Hill's (Impacts) and Barons, and I prefer the Barrons.

 

As for pedals. Those new Saints look awesome... but just like everything shimano... they don't use sealed bearings.

 

I run 3 different brands of flats on each of my bikes. Crap Brother's 50/50's, Wellgo B52's, and Nuke Proof Neutrons.

 

Out of the 3 the Neutrons are my favourite. They come in at a very reasonable price considering the quality.

 

Nice low profile. Excellent grip. And no middle-pins (your shoes last a littl longer), which one would think could compromise on grip, but it doesn't.

Any skateshoe ,if they last skating ,will last longer riding a bike.Most of these pedals are rebranded HT's.Superstar does neutrons & nanos, @ about 35 pondt a set

Thanks guy's. I'll take a look at the Freeriders and also those Neutron pedals.
