Picture of the Month - August 2012

 

This month seems to feature Crankworx fairly heavily, in fact the first three photos are all from there. The one that really stands out though is number 2, and not because it's a great photo. It's an incredibly inspirational photo of Adolfo Almarza, a double amputee, racing in the Garbo DH race at Whistler. I originally almost left this image out, because as images go it's just not that exciting, and it's not a beautifully lit, well composed image. But I changed my mind because it has something else that is more important. Fraser's caption says it all 'What was your excuse again?"

number 2 should be number 1 IMO. There is no gnar in it and nobody doing a huge whip or some sort of other big trick. But the fact that this person is riding with prosthesis because he lost his feet is blowing my mind. He just hang in there and move forward while giving a f*ck !
