Who me?!

Hahaha, ok so there are a few DH options in Gauteng. Here's a snippit from a previous post I made about them.

Here some DH courses in and around Gauteng:

1. Helderkruin (near clearwater mall, west rand. great one to learn)

2. 139 (Waterkloof Pretoria. Awesome track. Some of everything. Rider's fav by far)

3. Klapperkop (PTA, land access is a problem)

4. Stonehouse (Haarties... rocky and loose. Events only I think)

5. Gilooleys (East Rand... known for injuring riders and bikes. Land access problems)

6. Haartebeesport (has cable car to top. Not runnig yet though)

I'd say Helderkruin or 139 are your best bet. The next provincial race is at Helderkruin so there should be quite a few riders there every weekend until then.

Then in terms of non-formalized fun... there are some jump lines on the Braamfontein spruit that are pretty cool (namely the Scout Hall line, and the DHL Line). Also on the east rand there's "the Vlei" in Boksburg where Davvi and the guys have built some killer jumps.

Hey Patches,

So are you mended enough to ride again! That's awesome. Will you let me know when you go through again? Do you think it could be ridden on 150mm or 160mm steel hardtail or should I bring my big hit?

Sadly not mended yet. Plate only went in 2 weeks ago. But I see the doc tomorrow so maybe he will give me the green light to do a gentle spruit ride or something like that.

As far as bikes for Helderkruin are concerned... A full DH rig isn't necessary if you just want to have fun. Earlier this year someone came through with a Cotic BeFe (running 150mm at the front) and he did rather well. On saturday Bramley used a 120mm trance.

The Big hit will feel better... but if you're trying to sell it and keep it nice, then the On One will be fine.

Sweet, thanks. I am also more inclined to try on the on one, it sounds fun to see how it handles something like that

Hope the doc has good news, but honestly do you think you could keep it to a gentle ride on the spruit with all those jump lines so near by :w00t:

ok, so the staples are out, but the doc said "take it easy" for the next 4 weeks. I don't know if that means stay-home-and-watch-series or you-can-ride-but-only-gentle-trails.

I think I may test out the latter this weekend on the spruit. Just Fratelli's up. relaxed pace. no jumping,
