Shipping a bicycle from Cape Town to Texas.

I just moved back to the States after spending 3 years in South Africa. I left my road bike in Cape Town with some friends because I had a 10 day stop over in Europe and didn't want to lug it around Paris with me(wasn't going to have time for riding either). Anyways, I need to get it shipped here, to Texas. I'm looking for the cheapest option, I'm not really bothered if it takes a while.

 

Does anyone have experience shipping a road bike from South Africa to the States? Any advice?

 

It seems there's a few companies out there that ship from Europe to the US. But I'm having a hard time finding something affordable from South Africa.

Your probable cheapest option would be to find some businessman coming over for a week or so who could lug it along.

 

Alternatively, get one of your mates in CT to drop it off with SAA and get them to ship to the closest US airport they fly to.
