I'm considering buying a Thule 911XT to bit onto my Jeep Compass, however I have heard stories about boot-mounted carriers damaging the car.

Has anyone used the Thule boot-mounted carriers and experienced any problems with denting or scratching?

it depends on the cushioning material used, and the exact spot where it will "rest" on the bootlid, and off course the weight you put on the rack and boot.

I've seen some very damaged bootlids and some people reckon they are perfect.

From their manual it doesn't seem there is a compatible rear mounting rack.

Best you go speak to their agents to find a suitable match for your Jeep to avoid issues:

Thanks. I had the Thule roof rack installed and am using their roof mounted carriers. Works great!

Please remember there is something on your roof.........heard some horror stories of bent and broken bikes.....
