The Riverlea Sani Transfrontier Epic is unique MTB event in many ways. It is possibly one of the hardest and most beautiful mountain biking events in South Africa.

 

It is an iconic event that transports riders from the South African foothills of the Drakensberg to the very summit of the legendary Sani Pass in Lesotho. The ultimate test of a climber’s ability it is also a gateway to some of the most spectacular scenery one can experience on a Mountain Bike. Starting at the Sani Pass Hotel at 1566m above sea level riders climb for 21km up the Sani Pass eventually summiting in the thin air at 2873m before turning and hurtling for home. While undoubtedly a tough test of the legs and lungs it is by no means beyond the capabilities of your average rider and presents a unique opportunity to join a select club of climbers. For the Fun Riders there is the shorter option of turning after 13km at the SA Border Post at 1968m, a worthy challenge in itself. Entries are limited so don’t miss this opportunity to scratch this singular race off your bucket list.
