Sup Hubbers,

I have recently ordered Fox mounting hardware for my GF's bike at my LBS. After paying R360 I was a little bit shocked as it usually works out about R160 for a set.

When I opened the packet in the shop to check that the stuff is correct, I realised that they changed the entire design of their mounting hardware system.

It is not the DU bush pressed into the shock eyelet, with aluminium mounting hardware anymore. They have gone the polymer route:

Mounting Hardware

Small Parts. Big Difference.

Excellence is in the details. The main contact point of shock-and-frame has been redesigned to offer big benefits.

LESS FRICTION The new resin hardware reduces friction by nearly 50% compared to traditional mounting hardware, allowing the shock to respond faster to all linkage movements.

CLEAN AND DURABLE O-rings and the flanged bushing design blocks out dirt and mud. In lab tests, shocks submerged in muddy slurry lasted 10 times longer with the new hardware.

NO TOOLS REQUIRED All pieces to the hardware system can be mounted to the shock and removed by hand.

SELF-CONTAINED Shocks are shipped with all hardware in place. No more zip ties, cutting or prepping — just mount and ride.

After installing the parts yesterday, the rear suspension did feel super smooth. In my personal opinion this is a neater solution than aluminium mounting hardware.

I will post some feedback in a month or two.

I have just done mine last week, it is very smooth

The only problem I had yesterday on my ride was a squeak which was the bolt that I didnt tighten properly. I dont have a torque wrench so was afraid to over tighten.

I believe this company Igus manufactures these parts for Fox, they have a branch in Midrand.

I wonder if its cheaper to get all the bits direct from them.

Here is all the bicycle polymer bits they manufacture.
