Any of you out there who took your kids to the 94.7 childrens race today?

I have been taking my kids to this event for the past 5 years and it was always very well organised and a highligh in the year for the kids. But I think this year they threw away the handbook on organising a cycle race. The organisation was horrible to say the least. I also thought that the circuit and management of it was did not take the safety of the kids very seriously. Will be writing a long mail about issues that I had for the day and also give a few suggestions.

How did you guys find it?

Agree fully, then they close the exit to the parking under the road so you have to walk for 45min with tired kids back to the parking, right through the 40km route. How people didn't get ridden into when crossing the road is amazing.

Really not thought through.

Won't be back.

while doing the 40km race saw the que for the kiddies ride - essshhhhh

We did the 40km - there was some confusion on whether it was 8 laps or 5 laps - believe 8km lap would have worked better and spread the people out more. The organisation was awesome for the 40km - only thing is maybe to many people ? IT was a ride none the less however do think the medals were not for finishing but for not crashing :)

Make the loop bigger and I will certainly be back again

Shot to the awesome guys @ the fixie tent!!! Thanx okes you were awesome!

5km kiddies race was fine, with the major exception of the downhill towards the finish. That was clearly unsafe, negligently so IMO. Waiting at the finish I saw one very serious and two minor crashes on our race alone. A lot of kids are not really able to control their bikes under braking, and the organisers should have known better. Otherwise, despite the crowds and the parking chaos, my kids had a great time.

Kids loved it. I am just glad my kids have good bike handling skills and they survived as the kids were crashing all around them.
